  • 9/11

    9/11
    A group of terrorists working with Al Qaeda hijacked three airliners. The first two hit the twin towers, killing thousands of civilians. The third plane ended up hitting the pentagon, killing approximately 180 people. The last airliner failed to hit its target, which was the U.S. Capitol building. No passenger on this flight survived, but their sacrifices will be remembered.
  • War on Terrorism

    Shortly after the terrorist attack of 9/11, President George W. Bush launches an international American-led military campaign in the Middle East.
  • Space Shuttle Columbia

    Space Shuttle Columbia
    On February 1st, 2003, the space shuttle broke down upon re entry of the earth’s atmosphere. Not a single one of the seven astronauts survived. It was believed that there was a 60 to 90 second timeframe for the astronauts to find the issue with the shuttle and possibly (but not likely) survive.
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina
    One of the most devastating hurricanes in U.S. history. Katrina mainly hit Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The hurricane caused $108 billion in damages, and major flooding occurred, killing more civilians. Approximately 1,800 and possibly more civilians died during the incident.

    Produced by CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, hardware engineer Tony Fadell, software engineer Scott Forstall, and design engineer sir Jonathan Ive. The iPhone would become a device that would help revolutionize the world and the daily lives of millions of people around the world.

    Barack Obama Elected President
    Barack Obama, a democratic who promises to “rescue, rebuild, and restore, wins the presidential election in November 4th, 2008 and is inaugurated on January 20th, 2009. He also becomes the first African American president in U.S. history.
  • Mass Protests and Social Media

    Social media starts to really take off, and begins to unite many people around the world. However, this also results in people being influenced by others on platforms to start protests. Social Media begins to boost these movements since everyone is now connected.
  • Sandy Hook

    20 year old Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 first graders and six of the teachers present, killing himself shortly after. This event helped raise awareness to gun violence, and promote solutions to it (mainly controlling the use of guns).
  • I Win My First Soccer Tournament

    I win my first soccer tournament in late 2014, the first win in 10 years for my team in my age group. This was undoubtedly one of my happiest moments.
  • I Move to The States!

    I Move to The States!
    I move from Puerto Rico to Texas, one of my hardest changes in life. It was a drastic change in landscape and in culture. I could no longer speak what we called Spanglish in Puerto Rico, and had to speak complete English. A tough adjustment, but something that worked out. I would late move to Florida in 2017.

    Trump Gets Elelcted President
    Donald J. Trump, a Republican whose goals were to strengthen immigration laws, adapt a more aggressive foreign policy in the Middle East, and lowering taxes wins the 2016 election and is inaugurated in the 20th of January, 2017.
  • Trump and Kim Jong Un

    Trump and Kim Jong Un
    Trump visits North Korea to meet with Kim Jong Un. Becoming the first U.S. President to set foot in North Korea. The intentions behind this meeting were to remove the nuclear weapons and to sign the preparatory peace treaty on the Korean Peninsula.

    Black Lives Matter Movement
    Black Lives Matter, also known as the BLM movement, was a movement that was meant to bring light to racism, discrimination, and injustice towards African Americans. When George Floyd was killed by a police officer, the movement really took off. However, it eventually resulted in riots and lootings that did nothing to help the actual cause, and many simply saw it as a riot or unorganized chaotic movement, instead of what it was meant to be,
  • I Graduate From High School!

    I finally graduate on June 25th of 2023, celebrating with all my friends. It marks the end of my high school years, and the start of my college life.
