    This was the Era of Recontruction of the United States. The Jim Crow Laws were formed which were laws that discriminated against African- Americans. The Ku Klux Klan was also formed whcih was a anti- black group that killed and hanged them. Then people called carpetbaggers cames down from the north,looking for money. Then the 13th ammendment is passed, abolishing slavery, the 14th ammendment is passed, the constituion being ratified, and the 15th ammendment passed, which allowed citizens to vote

    Industrial Revolution Ends
    The Industrial Revolution was an Era of great growth. A huge shift was from hand work to machines. This helped greatly improve the production time for many things. Also, many machines, such as spnning and weaving machines were replaced by water power which then developed into steam power. Overall, the Industrial Revolution actually helped American states and cities develop into Urban States and cities.

    Imperialsim included the Spanish- American War, which was a war thhat started in 1898 wich started because of the yellow journalism used by American Writers and the mysterious sinking of the battleship the Maine in Havana Harbor. Also, the Acquisition o Hawaii happened. The U.S. was looking for areas outside of them but most of them had been taken so they setteled for Hawaii.

    The Panama Canal was also built in this Era. The Canal connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Now, sailors would not have to sail all the way around South America to get to the ship ports on the coast of South America and North America.

During this war, there were many technological advances such as guns, grenades, toxic gas, tanks, warplanes, submarines, and artillery. This war is also called the Great War or the First World War.

    The U.S. joined WW1 mainly because of the sinking of the British passenger ship the Lusitania by a German U-boat, which killed about 1,200 people, some being Americans.

    The U.S. got involved in World War beacuse of the sinking of the British passenger ship the Lusitania, which killed about 1,200 people, a few of them being Americans. The ship was sunk by a German U- boat, so the U.S. got really angry at the Germans. So, the U.S. joined the war.

    The Prohibition was an age when the sale. production, and transportation of alchohol was completely banned in the U.S. Then, the Jazz Age is developed inside this. The first Jazz music is credited to the African- Americans. There were Jazz clubs that people went to to listen and dance, and flappers developed, which were women that wore short bathing suits, smoked, and went to clubs. People were making alot of money on stocks so why not just spend it all?

    The Great Depression was a terrible time for the people of the United States and many other countries. When the stock market crashed, personal income, tax revenue, profits and profits dropped, and international trade droped more than 50%. The cities espicially dependant on heavy manufacturing were hit really hard by the depression, and construction was basically halted in most countries. In many countries, the negative effects of the Great Depression lasted until after World War Two.

    World War 2 was a war that lasted for about 6 years and fought mostly in European countries. What mostly started this war was Adolf Hitler's want of more land. Germany took The Chech Republic and Austria from Britain and France without a fight. This is becuase they did not want to repeat the bloodshed of World War 1. Little did they know that Hitlers goal was much larger than just two countries. He wanted to take over the whole world.

    The United States entered WW2 because of Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was a suprise bombing of the U.S. naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Two waves of Japanese fighter planes were sent in with bombs and heavy machine guns to tear the base apart. The U.S. then joined the allied side and fought against Germany, Italy, and Japan, who were on the axis side.

These two countries were the United States and the Soviet Union. Both had nuclear weapons and kept threatening to bomb each other, so it was a great time of terror for the people of both countries.

    The Gulf War was Americas response to Saddam Hussein's invation of Kuwait. Powers such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt asked the U.S. to do something about it. Huusein refused to leave Kuwait so the U.S. struck with a massive airstrike called operation desert storm. After 48 days of bombing, most of the troops either surrendered or fled.

    Operation Enduring Freedom was in response to the attacks on 9/11. The U.S. and British bombed Afghanistan and sent about 1,200 troops in. President Bush said their main goal was to capture the heads of Al- Qaeda, including Osama Bin Laden.

    The attacks on 9/11 were four coordinated plane attacks by the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. The planes were hijacked by the group. The first two planes crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade center in New York city. The third was crashed into the Pentagon. The fourth was targeted toward Washington D.C. and the White House, but a group of passengers on the planes overcame the terrorists and helped crash the plane in Pennsylvania.

    Operation Iraqi Freedom was announced by President Bush on March 19, 2003. The goal was to capture dictator Saddam Hussein and disable him from making weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
