  • Trench Warfare

    Trench warfare is a type of land warfare using occupied fighting lines consisting largely of trenches, in which troops are significantly protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery.
  • New Technology Entering WW1

    1.Pilot-less drones were invented in WW1. 2.Aircraft carriers were invented in WW1. 3.Hydrophones (microphones that could work underwater) were invented in WW1. Tanks, Tracer Bullets, Flamethrowers, Poison Gas, Interrupter Gears ( allowing a "said" pilot to shoot through the propellers), Air Traffic Control, Depth Charges, etc.
  • The Zimmerman Telegram

    In the telegram, intercepted and deciphered by British intelligence in January 1917, Zimmermann instructed the ambassador, Count Johann von Bernstorff, to offer significant financial aid to Mexico if it agreed to enter any future U.S-German conflict as a German ally. If victorious in the conflict, Germany also promised to restore to Mexico the lost territories of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

    The Manhattan Project was a secret military project created to produce the first US nuclear weapon. Fears that Nazi Germany would build and use a nuclear weapon during World War II triggered the start of the Manhattan Project, which was originally based in Manhattan, New York.

    The Cold War is the name given to the relationship that developed primarily between the USA and the USSR after World War Two. The Cold War was to dominate international affairs for decades and many major crises occurred – the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Hungary and the Berlin Wall being just some. For many, the growth in weapons of mass destruction was the most worrying issue.
