    Borden was Canada's 8th prime minister. He led Canada through one of it's worst times in history which was WW1. He helped encourage everyone not to lose faith in the war and came up with new ideas to get people to donate money to fund the war for new supplies and weapons. (+1)

    1914 was the year that WW1 started, no one knew how long the war would last. some thought it would be 4 months when it turned out to be 4 years. Canada was staying loyal to it's mother country Britain so they fought in the war as their alliance. (0)

    John McCrae wrote the renowned poem "In Flanders Fields" when battling in the Second Battle of Ypres. He had noticed wild poppies growing in the field even with the deadly war scenery around. John noticed the good little things in the bad things around him. This gave him a sense of hope. Later his poem would give others hope. (+1)

    The Battle at Vimy Ridge began on April 9th 1917 and ended three days later on April 12th 1917.This battle is said to be a defining moment for Canada, since this was the first time all 4 of the Canadian Divisions came to fight together at one. (+2)

    WW1 was ended on November 11 1918 at 11:00am. This treaty made peace between both of the opposing groups. It came with it's terms and conditions but overall stopped the war from going on any longer. About 8 million people were killed and about 23 million wounded in a span of 4 years. (+2)
