    A case about racial segregation in public schools. White Americans were greatly in favor of this. Since whites did not want to go to school with African Americans it caused much controversy.

    Case against Texas' abortion laws. It had the public opinion equally divided for the most part and cause controversy throughout the state because of the split.
  • Obergefell v. Hodges

    A case against the same sex marriage ban. Majority of Americans now favor marriage equality with no prejudice although it was not always that way. It was not a triumph for democracy, however it did cause controversy because many church and regilious leaders strongly disagreed with it. Eventually gay marriage was legalized.
