  • Virginia

    Virginia
    Virginia became a very successful colony, mostly because of their cash crops, the land was perfect for it. Mostly Tobacco was grown, then people flooded in and began to work on farms, or on other plantations.
  • Finding Jamestown

    Finding Jamestown
    In 1607 when the Virginia Company found Jamestown they had struggles due to there leader John Smith who worked them hard. 82 of the original colonists died because besides mosquitos carrying disease and harsh drinking water when winter came and they were looking for gold a lot of them died of hunger.
  • Plymouth

    Plymouth
    In the 1620's when Plymouth was found it was illegal to belong to any church except the church of England so the pilgrims tried to escape religous persecution so they went on a ship called the MayFlower and 2 months later a of of them died from winter, but those who survived built Plymouth.
  • John Winthrop

     John Winthrop
    John Winthrop became the first Governer of Boston, and the Pilgrims.
  • Maryland

    In the 1600's it being illegal to belong to another church, King Charles I had a jewish friend. He made a plan to make a colony were Catholics could have religous freedom. In 1632 he wrote up a charter, and founded Maryland.
  • All The Carolinas

    All The Carolinas
    England Just went at it, and kept making colonies. King Charles II settled his eyes on the land south of Virginia. He gave a charter for the colony of Carolina to 8 proprietors. 7 years later they made the port city of Charles Town. They established big settlements and grew crops such as Tobacco and rice, as cash crops. soon Charles Town prospered, Though, the northern part, grew a lot slower than the southern, they split it into 2 North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • Philadelphia

    Philadelphia
    The main reason for the founding of Philadelphia was for religous freedom and to make money trying to mimic the founders of New York, and New York. William Penn named it Philadelphia which means "City of brotherly love."
  • Finding Georgia

    Finding Georgia
    During the 1700s the colonies continued to bloom, but life in Great Britain most people owed debt. James Oglethorpe though, had an idea he made a colony where debtors could work of there debt, and make the colony rich!!! This completed the 13 colonies, and was called Georgia.
  • Delaware

    Delaware
    There was a small piece of land hanging off of Philadelphia called the 3 counties. Sweden Had colonized this part before the English and Dutch came. They asked for there own rights, and they got accepted. It was part of Pennsylvania but it became to be thought as of Delaware.
