The narrator kills the man with his bed and puts his remains under the floor boards of the bedroom -

the narrator watches the old man in his room while he sleeps every night for a week. As he prepares to kill the man he realizes he cant kill the man because his eyes arent open. and its his eyes that are bothering him, -

The narrator accidentally makes a noise while watching the old man in his sleep. causing the old man to wake up therefore opening his eyes allowing the narrator to attempt to kill him -
Police arrive
when the police come to question the narrator. The narrator is calm and shows the officers around the house and jokes. then Settles inside of the old mans bedroom with the officers -
Heart beat
As the narrator is talking with the officers inside of the bedroom he begins to hear a noise that gets louder and louder. the narrator then cracks and in an attempt to get the noise to stop he tells the officers to look under the floor boards -

the narrator described the sound as a ringing. then as a low quick sound. but after the officers find the body he says it was the beating of the mans hideous heart
