    This is where we are introduced to Burl and his father. This is also where we learn how violent Burls father is

    By the river banks
    Burl is afraid of his violent father, so when his father catches him spying on him and his girlfriend by the river banks, he threatens to kill Burl.
  • On the run

    Following the episode by the river banks, Burl is afraid of what his father might do, so he runs away into the Canadian wilderness
  • Burl meets The Maestro

    After being on the run for a couple of days, Burl stumbles upon a weird looking building by a lake in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. He then meets a peculiar man who lives alone inside the weird looking building. This is when we are first introduced to The Maestro and Ghost Lake, which is where Burl stays for a large portion of the book.
  • The Maestro leaves Burl

    After Burl has stayed with The Maestro at his house by Ghost Lake for a couple of months, we have gotten to know The Maestro a lot better. After a small fight between the two, The Maestro realizes that he is not fit for living in the Canadian wilderness and decides that it is time to return to civilization. He tells Burl that if he interested he can stay at the house and look after it until he comes back. Burl accepts this offer.
  • The Maestros death

    After living alone by the lake for some time, Burl is happy. He is certain that he can stay here for as long as he wants. A girl named Bea comes by with groceries once a month so that Burl has food. Unfortunately everything changes when Bea tells Burl that The Maestro has passed away.
  • Choices

    After learning about The Maestros passing, Bea tells Burl that The Maestro had paid for a plane ticket from Ghost Lake to the city. Burl realizes that The Maestro had no intentions of coming back, his plan was for Burl to come live with him in the city. This leaves Burl with a hard choice, should he go to the city or stay at the house by the lake.
  • Truth

    After making the hard decision of leaving the house, Bea asks him who he is. This leaves Burl with another hard decision, should he lie so he gets to stay in the city or tell the truth and risk getting sent back to his violent father. Burl decides to lie, seeing it as the best possible option. Burl tells Bea that The Maestro is his father.
  • Caught

    After a couple of months, Burl had started getting accustomed to living in the city. Things had just started to calm down, but this all changed when Burl runs into one of his fathers friends, who recognizes Burl. Now Burl has to get out of town before the friend alerts his father.
  • Toronto

    Since Burl had to leave town, he decided to go to Toronto to find an old friend of The Maestro. The Maestro had told Burl about her, so he figured she could give him some answers to the questions he had about The Maestro.
  • Burl heads back to the house

    After talking to The Maestros friend, Burl had learned that the music that The Maestro had left back at the house by the lake was quite valuable. So he decided to head back to the house to get the music
  • Home

    On the way to the house, Burl stopped by his fathers house and took a few things. He told his fathers girlfriends to tell his father that things were going to get good for Burl, he knew this was going to piss off his father.
  • Cal finds Burl

    When Cal caches up to Burl, Burl has to fight him off.
  • The house

    After Burl ends up saving his fathers life in the Canadian wilderness, he finds the house which has been burnt down.
  • The end

    In the end which comes very suddenly, the main point is that Burl has become a bigger and better man than his father. And in the end you can only be happy for him
