  • Invasion of Poland

    Invasion of Poland
    After signing the nonagression pact, Hitler quickly conquered Poland. He made a surprise attack on Poland, he used tanks and troops. This was called a blitzkrieg or lightining war. At the same time Hitler was bombing Warsaw with aircrafts and artillery. and Poland was conquered.

    France and Great Britain declare war on Germany. What would later become the Allied forces. Both of them tried to help Poland but they were too slow and were unable to do anything.
  • France is Dominated

    France is Dominated
    After a long war in France, between the Axis Powerd and the Allied forces, France gave up the 22nd of June of 1940. Nazi Germany controlled the Northern part of France, and the bottom was contolled by Marshal Philippe, a French hero from WWI.

    Germany decided to avoid daylight raids and do them at night instead. Thanks to the crack of th enigma code Britain was able to easily know about this attacks and deal with them. People used subways as air-raid shelters and sometimes basements.
  • Surprise in Africa

    Britain forces had attacked North Africa and the result was fantastic since they captured more than 100,000 Italian soldiers and had swept up a huge piece of land. Hitler sent help to his Axis partner with Erwin Rommel, who ttacked the Afrika Korps in March 1941. Britain was caught by surprise and was forced to retreat.

    Operation Barbarossa
    Hitler was installed in the Balkans. Being near the Soviet Union he decided to take the opportunity and attack USSR. On June 22,1942 Operation Barbarossa began, the Soviets were not prepared for it so they were sent back inland more than 500 miles.
  • Japan Gets Stronger

    Japan Gets Stronger
    The US was worried that Japan would get stronger than it was so it sent aid to countries that had resisted the Japanese empire. Japan ended up conquering French Indonicha, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. As a result Predisent Roosevelt cut off oil shipments to Japan in July 1941.

    This day Japan made a surprise attack on the US. They attacked a miliraty base in Hawaii called Pearl Harbor. In two hours Japan had sunk or damaged 19 ships, including 8 battleships, more than 2,300 American people were killed and at least 1,100 wounded.

    USA takes 16 B-25 bombers and decided to bomb Japanese cities such as Tokyo. This made little damage however it showed the US that Japan could be attacked.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    USA and Japan met in Midway island in the Pacific. This battle was not ground battle, this battle was fought on the air. Japanese and US aircrafts fought for 3 days since June 4, 1942. After the Us had destroyed 332 Japanese planes, Japan decided to retreat.
  • Battle of Guadalcanal Starts

    USA arrived at Guadalcanal and Tulagi with the help of Australia. The battle was a very wild one due to the lack of experience that the troops had.
  • The Final Solution Starts

    The Final Solution made by the Nazis for the Jews began. All Jews were sent to concentration camps and eventually death camps. Jews were forced to work there and had barely any food to eat. Many Jews died of sickness, hunger or in the gas chambers.
  • Battle of Gaudalcanal Ends

    The battle ofGuadalcanl ended after the Japanese abandonded what they called "the Island of Death" and after loosing more then 24,000 soldiers. US troops only had one word to describe it, hell.
  • The Battle of Normandry

    The Allied forces attacked the France that was being controlled by Germany. This attack was the start of the end of war in Europe. By August 1944 they had already put to freedom most part of Northern France.
  • The Battle of Bulge

    Hitler wanted to split up the allied forces by conquering Ardennes. This was the biggest battle fought by the Americans. Germans lost the battle and this was their last offensive attack that was going to be made in WWII.

    The Yalta Conference took place in Russia and it was were Lenin, Churchill and Roosevelt met to discuss postwar world.
  • The Battle of Okinawa

    A Pacific battle were USA and Japan fought against each other. This was the last and the biggest battle fought in the Pacific.
  • Germany Surrenders

    Germany surrenders to the Allied forces. Hitler commits suicide the 30th of April. This day is known as the V Day for Victory Day. They surrendered on Reims, Paris.
  • The Power of a "Little Boy"

    Little Boy was the first atomic bomb dropped by USA. Little Boy was fropped in Hiroshima, instantly at least 66,000 people died. By the end of 1945 at least 210,000 people had died.
  • A "Fat Man" is a Dangerous Weapon

    "Fat Man" was the code name that was dropped in Nagasaki. This bomb was dropped so that the Japanese could surrender to the US. More than 70,000 people were killed immediately after the bomb was dropped.
  • Japan Surrenders

    After the devastating atomic bombs and all the deaths caused Japan surrendered in a US naval ship. Officially the World War II was over.
