The Revenue Acts

  • The Sugar Act

Things like sugar, wine, coffee, tea, etc. had tariffs or shipment taxes. Colonists were mad because they didn't have the money to pay all the taxes and they didn't have a say in anything.
  • The Stamp Act

Taxed all paper products. It made the colonists angrier than they were.
  • The Townshend Acts

The British taxed everyday things like glass, lead, pants, etc. The colonists really started to protest... they went so far as to help create the Boston Massacre.
  • The Tea Act

The Tea Act was after the British had got rid of most of the other taxes. It taxed all tea. The colonies responded with the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Intolerable Acts

What the British use to punish the colonies after the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Declaratory Act

Gave the British authority to make and pass laws in the colonies. Made the colonies realize how much of a say they didn't have.
