    His father was an active military soldier throughout his childhood and his mother was also a soldier but left the army after he was born.
  • First Time Shooting

    First Time Shooting
    When he was 8 His father and grand father took him hunting for the first time. They showed him the proper and the improper ways to shoot guns. He loved shooting after a while he was able to split a cigarette in half at 100 yards.
  • Earned his only A

    Earned his only A
    Nick wasn't the best student, he was never a straight A student. the only A he has ever earned was JROTC a program that was sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in his high school.
  • Broke a Window at Home

    Broke a Window at Home
    When he was in high school, Nick found out how to make a blowgun with thumbtacks, Then made a bigger one that would shoot nails. He would shoot them agent the walls outside his house and would patch the holes with his sisters white play-doh. One day he shot it in the house, he hit a window and broke it, When his father asked what happened he lied, he said it was the heat on the glass. His father knew, When he left for basic training he gave him some money but took the cost for the window repair.
  • Colour Blind

    Nick always wanted to be a navy seal. He had completed all the necessary training needed to be done to be come a navy seal except for his visual test. When he showed up the doctor gave him a blank card and asked him to read it to her, that is when he found out he was green-red color blind.
  • Joined the Rangers

    Joined the Rangers
    He joined the Third Rangers Battalion right out of high school. He will stay with the rangers on every one of his tours to Afghanistan.
    This is where he met his best friend Pemberton who will soon become his spotter when nick becomes a sniper.
  • Contract

    Contract
    When Nick went to the recruiting office to become a ranger he asked the recruiting officer for a 20 year contract. the recruiter laughed and convinced him the 20 years was along time and that he should aim for a 6.5 year contract. Nick signed for a 6.5 year contract but told the officer it didn't matter how long it was he was going to do the full 20 years anyways.
  • Parachuting Experience

    Parachuting Experience
    Just before his first deployment Nick was doing his parachute training. He was in the plane with the trainees and it was his turn to jump (he has a big fear of heights) he jumped, As he fell he enjoyed the rush he got. As he went to pull his parachute nothing happened he was in shock for a second, He was maybe 200 feet from the ground when he pulled his reserve chute just in time to com to a hard rolling stop on the ground. he came out unscratched but managed to be in the what-not-to-do-film.
  • His First Kill

    His First Kill
    Nick was on his first tour to Afghanistan, this team were driving through the desert on hummers, Nick was in the heavy gun on top. When a truck flew past them, then stopped 1/2 a km ahead and started to drive towards them, it was a suicide bomber truck. The commanding office in the hummer ordered nick to take him out he hesitated at first the fire at the truck then it blowing up and the man inside. This was his first of many kills
  • Click if Death

    Click if Death
    One of the first missions on their most recent tour Nick and Pemberton were on. Nick ordered Pemberton to take a man out. He lined up the guy and pulled the trigger and a the gun didn't fire just made a loud click. A small grain of sand must have gotten in the gun and was preventing his firing pin to strike the bullet properly. Pembertons weapon was out of commission for the rest of the mission all he could do was watch mikes back.
  • Down Time

    Down Time
    During the day nick and his spotter Pemberton would have a lot of down time because basically every mission they were given was at night, The enemy would have a harder time seeing them and/or they would be asleep when they came at night. but during the day when they didn't have a mission they would sit out on their balcony and clean their guns, play football, video games basically anything that could help pass the time till their next mission.
  • Big Firefight

    Big Firefight
    The Reconnaissance Team had called on him to help take out a target. Him and his partner had went undercover with this team for 3 days. On their arrival they met the biggest firefight they have ever seen. The Taliban had pinned them down at one point where they couldn't even move because a sniper was watching them they managed to fight back and takeout their target before retreating to at extraction point. they only had one causality cpl Kopp who was shot in the leg and bled out (picture)
  • Almost lost a friend

    Almost lost a friend
    Pemberton and Nick go dropped off on a road for a mission with in the pitch dark night.
    Pemberton had fallen in to a hole that he tough was 15 feet down with water at the bottom. he hit his head on the way down.
    the team was unsuccessful on getting him out so they had to call the CSAR (Combat search and rescue team) to com and get him out and told them that it was actually 60 feet down
    Pemberton got taken to the hospital after then was sent home with less then a month left in his tour
  • Phone Call

    Phone Call
    As soon as Pemberton returned home Nick called him to see how he was doing. The whole time that they were talking Pemberton was just cramming home made chocolate chip cookies into his mouth. They talked about Nicks new partner and how mad Pemberton was that he had to leave with only a month left in their tour together.
  • New Spotter

    New Spotter
    After Pemberton had fallen through the hole, and gotten hypothermia and was sent back to America. Now that Pemberton was gone Nick needed a new spotter so the army brought in Brent an excellent sniper and an old friend of nicks from basic training. Brent was called "ninja" because he wound do gymnastic stunts and dress all in black, sneak into your room and pretend to kill you in your sleep and slip out. Brent was a great sniper but, Nick and him didn't connect as well as Nick and Pemberton
  • Down and Out

    Down and Out
    One night nick woke and barely made it to the bathroom he had "explosive vomiting and violent diarrhea." Nick thought he was going to die. He was bed ridden for 3 days and couldn't keep anything down. He had the sweats but was freezing at the same time. All this just from some bad sea food.
  • Sniper Competition

    Sniper Competition
    After returning from a tour he enter into the International Sniper Competition in Fort Benning. It included snipers from different parts of the world as well as he US military. for basically 72 hours straight his completion went on with stalking, urban shooting, orienteering, and shooting under stress where you sit at the other end of the range and people are shooting at the target next to you and you are shooting to the one next the them. nick ivring ranked 5th over all.
  • Returned home

    Returned home
    Returned form his most recent 3 1/2 month tour to Afghanistan. Reunited with his wife. He is now an instructor in South Texas where he instructs a a wide range of students in the art of precision shooting.
