    Corn was finally starting and was first grown. There wasn’t much of it at first but it was starting at least. Corn was known back then as maize. The corn was eventually put into the village gardens and ate at many dinner meals.

    The Olmec statues
    The Olmec's started making the stone statues. They created the statues with tools that they made such as clay, deer antlers, stone, bone, and even wood. Most of the statues were created to be people or heads of people.
  • 900 BCE

    La Venta

    La Venta
    Stone monuments were destroyed and statues were broken down. Also that is when La Venta became the capital. La Venta was a capital of Mexico. Long after the Maya decided to settle into La Venta.
  • 600 BCE

    Teotihuacan

    Teotihuacan
    Teotihuacan was burned by fire. After it was burnt to the ground it was abandoned. Teotihuacan used to be a pre- mexico city. That is where there are the 2 pyramids of the sun and moon.

    Destroying La Venta

    Destroying La Venta
    The capital La Venta was destroyed and burned down. After it was destroyed it was also abandoned. The city was then rebuilt by the Mayan's and they stayed in the village.

    Tikal

    There was the first settlement. The settlement was located at Tikal. Tikal is a village area where mayans usually stay and has a large temple near the center of the village.

    There was a volcanic eruption in Mexico. Cuicuilco was a valley that was ruined from the eruption. The volcano went off and burned the whole valley.

    The Pyramids

    The pyramid of the sun was built. The pyramid was built in Teotihuacan. It was one of the largest pyramids in Teotihuacan. The pyramid was man made by the Olmec's.

    The Olmec's built villages

    The Olmec's built villages
    This is when ancient village were created on the gulf of mexico. That is also when San Lorenzo became the centre. It was called the great ceremonial centre of the Olmec civilization. The olmecs started building these villages so that they would have a safe place to live and stay.
  • Olmec remains

    Olmec remains
    Scientists started looking for remains of the olmecs in Guatemala. They found many of the olmecs tools and some remains of the villages. After doing research and tests on the objects they were sent into a museum.
