He was born on Oct. 2 1869. and he was a Hindu and he was born into the Vaishya Caste. He was born in Porbandar, near Bombay. -

When he was 19 he went ot the Univerity of London to study law. A lot of the students made fun of him becasue he was Indian. -

In 1894 he asked teh Natal Congress to gain his Indian rights. Yet he remained loyal to the British Empire -
Serving The government
When the Boer War came in 1899 he gained an ambulnace corps and served the South Africa Government. -
He started to rise up
He then began a peaceful revolution. He said he would ratehr go to jail or even die before obeying an anti-asain law. Thousands of Indians started to follow his disobeideience campaign. -
Imprisoned
Thousands of people started to follow him and he wrote many writings then was imprisoned. The British made a salt tax were they had to pay extra for salt so they walked 200 miles to get there own salt at the ocean. He then was imprisoned -
