In the first pages of this book, the main character is intorduced as Ronnie (short for Veronica) Miller. She just graduated high school and is a very troubled teen since her dad left their family. She gave up playing piano even though she was really good when he left because that was the thing they shared. Now, her mom is making her and her brother Jonah spend the whole summer with him in California and she's is pissed at both her parents for it. -

After looking at the nest, Will decides to sleep outside hwile Ronnie sleeps inside, since he couldnt set up a net. they start talking and getting to know each other. the nest day he takes her to the aquarium with him and they hang out all day. At a colleyball game later, an ex of Wills tells Ronnie that shes just another girl in the collection of girls hes dated. she gets angry and leaves. Later Will comes by and they get into a fight. Ronnie goes to apologize and they kiss. -
Pages 56-156, (total- 444)
After arriving, Ronnie goes to the beach to get away from her family. She was walking when a volleyball player named Will bumps into her and makes her spill her drink all over herself. Later, she meets a girl named Blaze and her boyfriend Marcus. The next day, she finds a nest of turtle eggs so she call the aquarium to come look at it. The next day, after sleeping out side protecting the eggs, Will comes by and says that he volunteers for the aquarium and that he could build the net the next day -
Pages 219- 305, (total- 593)
Scott, friend and partner in volleyball, doesnt approve of the relationship with Ronnie because its destracting Will from playing well. Will goes to dinner with Ronnie and her dad and brother, Ronnie finds out that Wills family is rich when she meets his family. Will invites Ronnie as his date to his sisters wedding. Her brother gives Ronnie money to buy a dress so she can accompany Will to the wedding. Marcus and Will get into a fist fight at the wedding over Ronnie. -

In thses pages Wills parents find out about Ronnies felonies and start yelling at Will telling her shes low class and not good enough for him. Blaze catches on fire and Will races out of a game to go save her. Marcus and Will get in another fist fight, this time over Blaze. The turtle eggs hatch.Ronnies dad starts coughing up blood so he goes to the ER. While at the hospital, her dad tells the kids that he has cancer. Ronnie starts playing the piano again for her dad. -

Ronnie decides to stay with her dad after summer ends and Jonah leaves so she can take care of him in his last few months. Ronnie finds out that Will has been covering for Scott for ruining the town church that her dad had felt guilty for because he thought he started the fire. Will adn Ronnie get into a big fight and he goes off to college. Ronnies dad dies and Ronnie goes Juliard for playing piano. Will shows up and tells her he's tranfering to a college nearby so they can still be together.
