Two temple-mountains, Angkor Thom and Bayon were built under King Jayavarman VII. Both temples are quite similar in style as they have the same art style and similar construction. -

The Khmer Empire collapses due to a 25 year long drought previously, which caused the economy to fail. The Khmers became weak, and the Champas from Vietnam seized the chance to raze the land. The Khmers didn't stand a chance. -
