    The Proclamation
    The British Government issues a Proclamation that Prevents the Colonies to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. By declaring The Appalachian Territory for the Native Americans, the British hoped to limit conflicts in the future
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Needing to pay for the expenses of the war, the British Government taxed the colonies. Parliament passed the Sugar Act creating a tax on foreign Molasses and raising taxes on other non-British goods. Britain has implemented other taxed in the past, however, these taxes contribute as the the first taxes created to raise revenue. American Colonists objected calling it Taxation without Representation
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    Right after passing of the Sugar act , Parliament prohibited paper currency in the American Colonies. Parliament passed the Currency Act because British collectors wanted “real money” instead of paper money. However, this Created another hardship or the American Colonies. With Gold and silver short in demand and coming up with the element could become more difficult.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    Parliament passed another act making the Colonies angry. This time, the act implemented taxes on dice, Pamphlets, court and customs documents, almanacs, playing cards, Financial papers, newspaper, newspaper advertisements, and more. The Stamp act contributed as the first time the British Government has placed a tax on something that affects the daily life of the colonies.
  • The Quartering Act

     The Quartering Act
    In the event that the military barracks do not have enough space for officers and soldiers, local American Colonial Officials had to house the British Troops in their homes. Local officials could hold them anywhere like; outhouses, and victualling-houses, basically any place where they could potentially get their hands on come alcohol. The official “housing the soldiers had to pay for all living expenses. Parliament called this law the Quartering Act and it expire on march 21, 1767.

    The Boston Massacre
    A group of Angry Boston residents armed themselves with many snowballs. They harassed and tormented the British troops in the city until the troops gave in. The British troops shot five men. The shooting Outraged the colonist.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    Parliament passed another acted resulting in rage from the American Colonies. The Tea act does not impose a tax on tea. Instead, an East India company tries to save their tea products by shipping the to the American Colonies. This shipment, a strategy to gain support for the Townshend Duties, so they thought. The colonies recognize that sale of tea would only history the local business.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The colonists would not stand for any more of Britain's hogwash. Before the tax for the tea made it to the tax collector, the radical Boston people stormed the ships. They proceeded to toss 342 chests of tea over the ships into the water. The amount of money lost in the Boston Tea Party cost more than three-quarters of a million dollars and not one of the chests reach their destination.

    The Intolerable Acts
    March 31 1774- June 22 1774: As punishment for the Boston Tea party, Parliament passed the intolerable acts. Four laws made up the act; the Boston port law, the Massachusetts Government act, Administration law, and the Quebec act. Each act effects the Colonies in their own way, creating anger and frustration.
  • The First Continental Congress-

    The First Continental Congress-
    Sept. 5-Oct. 26, 1774: The First continental congress meets in Philadelphia. 55 members represented every colony, except Georgia. Congress gathers at the convention as ambassadors to adopt resolutions, not to revolt. The meeting members elected Peyton Randolph president. However, Patrick Henry objects. Patrick believed that congress should vote as members of the American Colonies, not as each colony individually.
  • The Association

    The Association
    In 1774 the Continental Congress declared an almost universal ban on the import or use of British goods and halted any exports to Great Britain to protest the Coercive acts. However, South Carolina refused to give up its most profitable crop (rice) and opposed to the ban of everything. In order to keep everyone unified the plan no longer included the ban of rice. This allied colonial activity became known as “The Association.”
