    Hernando De Soto Explores Georgia
    Had approximately 600 men with him. Marched North from Tampa, Florida to near southwest Georgia (Albany) in search for valuables, mostly Gold. In the end, he never succeded and was killed by a sickness on the trip ear Savannah River.

    Spanish Missions On Barrier Islands
    A mission is a religious church or station established in a foreign land to allow missionaries to spread their religion. Spain established missions on many of Georgia's barrier islands. The missions were used to convert the Native Americans to Catholicism but also served as a trading post.
  • Virginia Colony Established

    Virginia Colony Established
    The British wanted to create colonies that would help produce raw materials that could be imported into Great Britain. British companies would then refine these products and sell the finished product back to the colonies at a higher rate.
  • Massachusetts Colony founded.

    Massachusetts Colony founded.
    The Massachusetts Colony was founded in 1630. One Thousand Puritan refugees from England under Governor John Winthrop went to the new colony and settled there.
  • Fort King George was built.

    King George the second built this fort because he was afraid that the French from Alabama(West), and the Spanish(South), would raid them and take over the British Colony and lose some land.
  • Georgia Colony founded with the charter of 1732.

    King George the second wrote the charter so that all the prisoners and the working poor could move and start from scratch. The Colony was made for charity and was used for that purpose. In the end, not many of the working poor or prisoners even got there.
  • War of Jenkin's Ear

    Walpole officially declared war on October 23, 1739. This war had been declared because in 1731, Captain Robert Jenkins' ear was cut off because of a Spansh Coast Guard.
  • Battle of Bloody Marsh

    This battle was faught between the Spanish and British Forces on Saint Simon's Island, part of Georgia, which the British Forces and army were the victors.
  • French and Indian War

    The first "world war" because it was actually the first war that happened on two contenents. It is also called the 7 years war but it was faught for 9 years. The British won this war and gained a lot of land in the new world. This was also a cause of the declaration of independence.
  • Stamp Act

    This was a tax on newspaper, legal documents, government papers. People did not want this because it was almost impossible to escape. This was a cause of the Declaration of Independence.
  • Townshend Acts

    Taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. This was not such a big cause of the declaration of independece because it barely affected Georgia because they made tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Patriot were throwing snowballs at a loyalists and aggrivating them. The loyalist called for back up and started to open fire on the patriots This was remembered as the Boston Massacre.
  • Intolerable Acts

    These acts were the punishment for the Boston Tea Party. There were 4 parts to this act. Any colonist had to take care of a british soldier at their own expense. The massachusetts charter was revoked. If a loyalist did a wrong doing they had to be tried in Britain. The boston harbor was closed.

    This war kicked of the Revolutionary Wawr.

    This was the day that the second continental congress came together and created trhe declaration of indepence.

    The first constituion for Gerogia.
  • Siege of Savannah

    This was the first time that French and the Americans teamed up. This was also the first tme that a soldier gave his life for a foreign country. The battle lasted almost 45 minutes and there were more than 1000 American/French dead and almost 40 british dead with 300 moreounded.
  • Battle of Kettle Creek

    This was a very important battle of the American Revolution. The partriots got much needed supplies. This war was also a huge morale booster.

    The Americans and the French won thw ar.

    This teaty ended the American Revolution war between Great Britain and The United States of America.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    An armed Uprising that took place in central and western Massachusetts in1786 and 1787.

  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    This is when all 13 colonies accepted the constituion and it was signed by all thriteen.
  • Invention of the Cotton Gin

    THe cotton gin was invented and used heavily to make money for poor countries. It also needed slaves so the amount if slaves used around America hugely increased due to this invention.
  • Yazoo Land Fraud

    Some people stole and and sold it to other people.
  • Missouri Compromise

    This was a compromise made by Henry Clay which said tha Maine would be broken off into a free state and how Missouri could be a slave state.
  • Dahlonega Gold Rush

    The settlers found gold in Dahlonega and pushed and even killed everything in their way to find the gold and make good use of it.
  • Nullification Crisis

    When South Carolina did not agree with the federal government bcause of taxes so it almost seceded from the the union.
  • Dred Scott Case

    He was a slave that sued people for hs freedom.
  • Compromise of 1850

    The Compromise of 1850 accomplished its jobs by keeping the nation united for temporarily. Over the following decades the country's citizens became further divided over the issue of slavery. The rift would continue to grow until the nation itself divided too look like it is now.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    Created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska, opening new lands for settlement an agriculture.
  • Election of 1860

    This was won by Abraham Lincoln and caused South Carolina to secede from the union. Later, 6 other states followed South Carolina's lead and also seceded from the union.
