The Democratic Republic of Congo is engaged in civil war
The Democratic Republic of Congo is fighting a war against rebel forces that want to overthrow the government. The war is serious and, although, not directly harming many civilians, the Rebells are extremely strong and prospects do not look good for the government of Congo. -
Pierre receives an important message regarding an arms crisis
Pierre receives a message from an unknown source (presumably another French espionage agent or team) that a missile launcher has been illegally transferred from the Congolese government. They believe that this missile launcher will be used at the upcoming peace talks between the DRC and the rebels. -
Pierre holds an emergency meeting with his boss Lance
After Pierre receives word of the missile threat he immediately contacts his boss. They hold an emergency meeting at their office in the French Embassy. They conclude that the missile must have been bought by a radical group with the help of someone on the inside. -
Lance is introduced to the story
Lance is Pierre's boss and head of espionage for France in the DRC. He is middle aged and highly skilled in espionage. He has specific experience dealing with unstable nations and internal affairs. -
Pierre leaves the embassy to meet with Antione.
Antione is a high ranking military official and overseas the operations of an armory in the DRC. Antione is highly cooperative with French intelligence and a good friend of Pierre. Pierre meets with Antione and briefs him on the current situation. Antione agrees to provide Pierre with information regarding the incident. -
Pierre meets with two major contacts in the Congolese government.
Pierre has two major contact in the Congolese government: Nazarene and Chantal. Chantal is the girlfriend of the chairmen of the CDR party, Bukuna. This party has significant political significance in Congo in the story. Nazarene is the secretary for Bukuna. Both tell Pierre that the high ranking officials in the party have been acting strange lately, leading Pierre to believe that an inside job was carried out. -
Pierre meets with Boudvin
Boudvin is a fugitive hiding in the DRC. He is an expert in telecommunications and has the ability to carry out wiretaps on high security systems. Although he is a fugitive, he is the best person in the region to carry out wiretaps on high ranking officials. This is why Pierre meets him and offers political asylum in countries with French diplomatic ties under the condition that he carries out wiretaps on Congolese government officials. -
Jenny Osborne and John Spencer introduced to the story
Jenny Osborne and John Spencer are American freelance journalists. Their work has attracted a lot of attention from major networks and they decided to cover a story about the rebellion in the DRC. John Spencer is x-army and a photo journalist. Jenny is a reporter. Jenny attended Columbia university and met John shortly after. -
Jenny and John Get Press Permits
In order to carry out interviews and document their experience, Jenny and John must receive press permits from the DRC government. They receive their permits from an military officer who is very rude and threatening. -
John and Jenny Meet with a contact at an organization called CARE International
John and Jenny Meet with a women named Jackie for lunch. Jackie is from an organization called CARE International and has previously worked with Jenny. Jackie is extremely familiar with the current state of the civil war in the Congo. She tells the journalist that it is extremely dangerous to set up interviews with the rebel forces and strongly advises against it. She arranges interviews and tours for Jenny and John. She also provides them with an interpreter. -
John discovers his phone is bugged
John discovers that the phone in his hotel room is bugged. He assumes this to be the work of the Congolese government in order to control the press. -
Jenny and John are invited to and attend a party
John and Jenny attend a party in which they meet many important figures. Most notably Jenny and Pierre meet, however he states his name is Mr. Beck. Also John meets a man named Ian who is in a similar roll that Pierre is in for the English government, -
John and Jenny receive a tour of a Congolese armory.
John and Jenny receive a tour of a Congolese armory. They spot army officers loading a black crate into a Mercedes. When John attempts to film this operation he is tackled by two army men. -
Antione meets with Joseph
Joseph is a high ranking official in the Congolese army and in charge of the same armory that was visited by Jenny and John. Antione meets with Joseph in order to investigate the missile shipment. Joseph explains to Antione that the commander of paratroopers signed for the shipment that day. The commander of paratroopers, however, was killed in combat the day before. -
Joseph is assasinated
Joseph is assassinated after giving Antione the information about the arms shipment. Antione now fears for his life. -
Antione contacts Pierre
Antione calls an emergency number and Lance meets him in a confidential location. They exchange envelopes and Lance gives him $5,000 so that Antione can escape the town and avoid assassination. After receiving the information from Antione, Lance and Pierre determine that the organization behind the arms crisis is The Helpers. This organization has multiple highly placed members within governments around the world and secretly controls military operations and financial markets. -
Lance and Pierre realize that Jenny and John have sensitive information
After keeping tabs on Jenny and John and receiving information from Antione, Lance and Pierre realize that they have sensitive and important information regarding the arms crisis. They quickly formulate a plan to break into their hotel and steal John's video recordings. -
The helpers formulate a plan to recover John's recordings
Two members of The Helpers formulate a plan to break into Jenny and John's hotel room and steal the video recordings that could expose them. They are unaware that John and Lance are formulating a similar plan. -
Lance and The Helpers break into John's hotel room at the same time.
Pierre distracts Jenny while Lance breaks into John's hotel room to recover the recording. A member of the helpers breaks in at the exact same time and a firefight ensues. Lance recovers the tape and survives relatively unharmed. Jenny recognizes something is wrong, and Pierre tells her to call him so he can explain. Jenny and John are now tied into the plot and their lives are in danger because they now have knowledge of The Helper's whereabouts and operations. -
Gaston is introduced to the story
Gaston is a high ranking member of The Helpers and is also a high ranking military official. Gaston is mad at two of his employees for botching the operation of recovering the media from John and sends them on a mission to assassinate Antione which is suicide. Also, Gaston has abducted a girl, who, little to his knowledge has discovered his plans to assassinate the president of Congo. She also discovers a missile launcher in his armory. -
Antione is assassinated
Joseph is handed a letter telling him to meet a trusted friend in an alley way. This is common in the intelligence community. Joseph arms himself heavily knowing the threats against his life. When Joseph arrives at the location he is ambushed and shot. Joseph throws a hand grenade blowing up his vehicle and killing himself and his attackers. -
Lance travels to France
Lance travels to France in order to update his boss Jaque about the current situation in Congo. As soon as he arrives he is ambushed. He realizes that The Helpers have infiltrated French intelligence. His boss is safe however he realizes someone has infiltrated his Boss's inner circle. -
Lance receives 50k dollars from his boss
Lance receives $50,000 from his boss in order to find the infiltration in the intelligence community. -
Batiste Introduced to the story
Batiste is introduced to the story and it is revealed that he is actively pursuing Lance in attempts to kill him. Lance has acquired phone tapes that could lead to Batiste's prosecution. Batiste is also heavily involved in The Helpers, and he knows that if he doesn't kill Lance he will be killed by The Helpers. -
Lance fake's his death and flees France
Lance fakes his death and flees France in order to throw Batiste off. Lance travels for about a day until Batiste realizes that he is not dead and keep pursuing him. -
Batiste hires a hit man named Sapphire
Batiste, unable to kill Lance on his own, hires a hitman named Sapphire to do the job. He pays him $100,000 in cash. Sapphire's employees make multiple attempts on Lance's with no success. -
Lance Notifies his boss that Batiste is part of the Helpers
Batiste notifies his boss that Batiste is part of The Helpers. This is extremely difficult for his boss to hear because he trusted Batiste. Jaque immediately turns in his resignation forms. -
Jaque commits suicide
After his career and life work is left a disaster, Jaque sees no way out and kills himself after resigning from his job. -
Lance flees Europe
While being pursued by Sapphire's men, Lance boards an outbound flight to the Congo and departs 15 minuted before Sapphire's men arrive at the airport. -
Batiste is killed in a plane crash
After the helpers learn that Batiste has failed to kill Lance, they sabotage the fuel system of the private jet that Batiste is going to fly on. Both engines fail mid flight and Batiste is killed in the resulting crash. -
The Red Cross infirmary is raided
The Red Cross infirmary is raided by rebel troops and Jenny and Kai escape. Kai's mom remains unharmed and is transferred to a Red Cross treatment facility. -
Gaston assassinates the Congolese president
Gaston uses the missile launcher to assassinate the Congolese president by taking out his plane upon arrival. As a result, the nation of Congo is plunged into chaos and the war intensifies between the rebel forces and the government. Many civilians are killed as a result. -
Kai and her mother escape Gaston
Kai, the girl who was abducted by Gaston, escapes with her mother while he is away, and meets with Jenny whom she has been in contact with. The war is getting extremely bad and she is being pursued by Gaston. Jenny helps her flee. -
Kai's mother is shot
Gaston catches up to Jenny, Kai, and her mom and begins firing at them shattering the windshield of the vehicle.Kai's mother suffers a gunshot wound. It is non-lethal however Jenny and Kai take her to a Red Cross infirmary where she is treated. -
Jenny and Kai arrive safe at the embessy
Jenny and Kai arrive safely at the embassy in order to get out of the country. Ian, a British ambassador, creates all the necessary documents that will allow Kai to travel to England the next day. -
Jenny and John smuggle Kai out of Congo.
Jenny and John smuggle Kai out of Congo and into England. Gaston is tranquilized by Ian's men at the airport. -
Gaston is discharged from the Congo Army

Gaston is sent to New York to retrieve the missile tape
After Lance and Pierre examined the tape of the missile being loaded at the armory, it was returned to Jenny and John who are now in New York. Gaston is given a second chance by the helpers and sent to New York to retrieve the tape. -
Lance and Pierre go to New York
Lance and Pierre, after finding out that Gaston is tracking Jenny in New York, fly to New York in order to stop him rom acquiring the tapes. -
Gaston Kidnapps John
Gaston calls Jenny, who has fled to Jersey to escape The Helpers. Gaston demands the tape of the missile however Jenny refuses. As a result The Helpers kidnap John and hold him hostage. -
The Helpers are neutralized
While The Helpers are not completely destroyed, they are neutralized for the time being. After a coordinated effort between the FBI, Lance, and Pierre, John is recovered safely from Gaston. Gaston is killed in a gunfight. The tapes are also recovered. This cripples The Helpers.
