The Heir. Grace Kriescher

  • Over All Premis

My book is The Heir by Kiera Cass. This book is a story about a girl who is trying to figure her life out, but she is also a princess and has duties to uphold. This book tells about her struggles to find her soul mate and get ready to run her kingdom at the same time. The book tells about how she grew up and how she is adjusting to all the new people in her life. It is also stated how she has to deal with the people of her kingdom and the way they are acting towards her. Will she find her prince
  • Event 1:The selection is suggested

    Event 1:The selection is suggested
The first event that takes place in my book is when the selection is suggested to Edlyn. This event will lead her to act differently around certain people. She had been told all of her life that she was the future queen and no one was more powerful than her, and now she has to be sweet to all of these boys. Thinking: I think that many women can relate to wanting to be independent and then people wanting them to do something that goes against that.
  • Event 2: Picking People

    Event 2: Picking People
The next event that takes place is Edlyn picking the contestants that will come to the castle. This is stressful for Edlyn because she does not want to pick the wrong person. She already does not want to partake in the selection, and now she is picking the people. I think that she every right to be stressed because she is the only girl and so much is expected from her. If I were the only girl and that much was expected out of me I would not be as calm as Edlyn.
  • Event 3: The names are said

The third event that takes place is all of the boys names are red on the national television. During the show she reads the names of the boys and the last one is Kile. Kile is a boy that she has grown up her whole life, but the catch is she hates Kile. He is always saying thing to make Edlyn mad. She gets really mad and can't wait to leave. I think she has every right to be mad. She picked the one person she hates most of all. And now she might fall in love with him. She has so much controll.
  • Event 4: She meets the boys

Another event that took place in my book is when Edlyn meets all of the boys. This is important because this is when all of the first impressions are made. During this process Edlyn remains very calm. She meets all of the boys and some of them do not impress her very much. While others do a very good job of impressing her.One of the boys catched her attention because her is from a different contrey. I think that Edlyn is amazing because she was able to remain calm with all of the new changes.
  • Event 5: The people are not happy

The fifth event that takes place is a parade. This parade is in honor of the selectants. It starts out great, but then they get to the part of town where the people against the King and Queen are. When they get over there people started throwing things at the float. They threw eggs and rotten fruit. While they are on the float Edlyn remains very calm, but when she gets away from everyone she starts to cry. I think that edlyn has every right to cry. She was attacked by the people of her kingdom.
  • Event 6: An Elimnation is held

The next event that takes place is when Edlyn holds an elimination. This is important because she gets rid of all of the boys that she does not have an interest in. This narrows down the group so people can get a feel for what she finds impressive. This also shows that she is serious about this and does not want to play around. Everybody says that she is cold hearted for sending so many people home but she says that it is not a game it is her life. I think that I would be like Edlyn.
  • Event 7: Edlyn has a girl talk

During this event Edlyn talks to her Aunt May. Her Aunt gives her advice about what to do on a date. She also teases Edlyn because she is nervous. May also compares Edlyn to her mom because her mom did not want to go on dates either. By the end of the conversation Edlyn does not know if she is nervous or excited or embarrassed of her family. I think that some girl talk with her aunt is okay because she is the only girl in her family. She does not have any sisters to talk to.
  • Event 8: Game on

Event number eight is when Edlyn plays baseball with some of the boys. She is on her way to her room when one of the boys asks her to join them. At first she does not hit the ball but then her mom and aunt encourage her. She hits the ball and makes it all the way to second base. By this time her mom and all of the other women have come out and joined the game. Eventually her dad comes and tries to play but strikes out. I think it is good for Edlyn to play baseball with the boys.
  • Event 9 Ahren gets married

This event is important because Edlyn’s twin brother gets married to the future queen of France. This means that he will no longer live in the castle with his family. This makes Edlyn very mad and caused her to run and hid in her room. She is very sad. When she gets to her room she find a note from her brother. This note explains why he left and get married to his love. I think she has every right to be mad. The one person that she has known her whole life just packed up and left.
  • Event 10: The Queen has a heart attack

This is the last event in the book. When The Queen find out that her son got married she is in so much shock that she has a heart attack. This makes Edlyn realise that she need to find a husband. She wants to be as happy as her parents are. Almost losing her mom made her realies that life is short and she needs to make the most of it. She decides there and then that she will find a husband.I think that her eyes were finally opened and she saw what she could have and how short life is.
  • Conclution

I really liked this book. It was a story about a young independent woman who learned that you do not have to be alone to be happy. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes female empowerment books because this book teaches girls that they do not need a man to be happy. It teaches girls to stand up for themselves and not bow down to men. This is a good book and I suggest that every woman read it.
