The French lock and Arquebus
This wooden and metal sholder held wepon was made in the 15th century by the frech, and is the first wepon to have a lock system on it, Also started to be used as hunting arms. Was also on of the first firearm to be compatable to a pistol. -
The invention of the flintlocks
The flint lock was a adoptaion of the wheel lock/ lock that used more simpler mechinism that included a smooth bore barrel. The inventor was Marin le Bourgerys, also soon after the invention of the bayonet was created as a attchment to the end of a rifle. This new lock was very used for two centuries -
New firing system, the percussian cap
The percussian cap was the invention of Revered John Forsylh of Abshire, Scotland. Was meant to compleatly replace flint locks due to how slow the loading spead was compared to the newer mechinism. Which also led to new ways fire arms could be made and fired. Also got more used because of how the duel hammer lock could use percussian caps too. -
The bolt acton, firing pin, and modern bullets
when french gunsmith Delvinge made a rifle barrel that could hold a cylinder shaped bullet that held its own gun powder and projectile. A few years later in 1841 a Purrasian man Jonann Von Dyrese created the firing pin that would hit the back of a bullet and cause a chain reaction that would shoot a projectile -
The Gatling gun
Dr. Richard Gatling created the Gatling gun, which was a multi barreled mounted gun that was magizine feed, and hand cranked. The Gatling gun was used very little during the civil war due to how little mobility it had, and it jamed in early models. Even Lincoln pushed for these wepons to be used more, but never made it farther than a fort defence. -
The rise of the autoguns
From 1903 to 1912 was when the first ever rapid repating guns where constructed. Includes the BAR, thomson, British vikcers. Overall several Firearm actions where made between this time. Mostly used as mounted guns during WWl then reused in WWll. In their day they where the worst thing to run into during trench warfare. At the time was the best substitue for a bolt action rifle -
The forming of modern day firearms
During WWll the Nazi party made propagnda for their wepons that were called Wonder wepons. Through out the war many advanced wepons were made, none of them made it past the war. All ecept the Sturmewher 44/ StG 44. The StG in german meant storm rifle, usefull for storming bunkers. Another thing it was known for was being the first firearm name assult rifle in history. Which soon became a catagory of infantry wepons.
