    The election of 1800 was between Thomas Jefferson who was a democratic republican and Aaron burr who was also a democratic republican. They each both received 73 votes. They needed someone to help break the tie. This is where Alexander Hamilton comes in. Even though Alexander doesn't like Thomas Jefferson he still promotes him. Thomas Jefferson wins over Aaron Burr. This eventually leads to Hamilton death.

    The Louisiana purchase was important because it gave the US control of the Mississippi River and the port of New Orleans. The US gained control of a huge amount of land resulting in the doubling size of the US. And it also was a good opportunity to grow cotton and other plants.

    Lewis and Clark expedition
    Lewis and Clark were hand chosen by Thomas Jefferson to explore the new west part of the United States. They were asked to recored in there journals the plants, the animals, and the people they came across. Thomas Jefferson asked them both to write a copy of each journals. But the main reason was to find a route to the pacific ocean. Lewis and Clark came back September 23,1806.

    The non-intercourse act was an act that was meant to help with the previous Embargo Act. Thomas Jeffersons plan, was to make the non intercourse act more popular since the last act, was not a success.This act unlike the Embargo act, banned trade from only British or French ports. Both of these bills damaged Thomas Jefferson population and also hurt the economy.

    The cumberland road was the first federal road project. The road began in cumberland,Maryland and continued to a town on the Ohio River that was called Wheeling. It was mainly used for a transportation to the West. It helped many settlers in the West with traveling to the East.

    The Treaty of Ghent was basically a peace treaty that ended the war of 1812. The war of 1812 was between Great Britain and the United States. Great Britain was a trying to take over/ take back the land that they had lost in the Revolutionary war. The United States once again one the war over Great Britain. This was great news for the United states. This second victory over Great Britain proved that the US had world power.

    When Canada and the United states was at a disagreement they decided to create a treaty to help solve conflict. The conflict was mainly over the Great lakes. The Canadians wanted to maintain natives and fishing rights on the great lakes. The treaty was signed by Richard Rush and Charles Bagot.

    Detroit Clinton, the governor of New York, wanted the canal to be built so that New York could have a direct path to the west. Also this way New York could build a canal with connecting bridge from lake Erie, to Albany on the hudson river. It was a really big boost for helping the west get there supplies faster.

    Andrew Jackson ,our future President of the United states, was sent to Florida by Thomas Jefferson to stop and capture the very disruptive seminole raiders. He wanted to take down the warriors because they kept helping the slaves escaping from the south. This disagreement was the cause of the Seminole war.

    The convention of 1818 or the treaty of 1818 established the boundary between the United States and the UK. It was solving standing bountry issues between the United states and the United Kingdom. The issues were over the Organ country.
    This treaty purpose was to settle everything after the war of 1812.

    This treaty stated that Spain would hand over Florida and Oregon to the United States. To make things even or to balance everything out, the United States gave up the claim to Texas. This Treaty was important because it settled all border disputes with Spain. It was signed in Washington DC By John Quincy adams.

    This issued that the United States and the European powers should not interfere with each other at all. It points out that the United States warned the Europeans powers not to mess with or get involved with the United States western Hemisphere. We just wanted them to stay out of America! They continued to keep trying to take over the western Hemisphere. So we created the Monroe Doctrine. This is when good old uncle Sam came around to cheer up America and help keep its spirit alive.

    The American system which was originally preposed by Henry Clay was a tariff or tax to help international improvements by the federal government. It would help build new roads, new waterways, and other means of transportation. This would help build up Americas transportation system. This would help by making it faster to get supplies to the west where new settlers are settling.

    The Erie canal is finished
    The Erie canal is finally finished on October 26 1825. Many lives were lost but the ending results were worth it . It was 363 miles long, 4 feet deep and 40 feet wide. The helped give resources to the west which helped people settle in the west, without the worry of not being able to get supplies. It also helped power cotton plants on the shore line and it also helped make a good water source for new foundations of civilization.
