    The Council of Nicea

    The Council of Nicea
    People started to wonder if Jesus Christ was equal to God the Father. So about 300 bishops got together and and tell each others what they think about this. For example Arius argued that Jesus was a created being who was of a similar substance as the Father. After a long debate they finally came up with a answer saying the Jesus is a true God.

    The Edict of Milan

    The Edict of Milan
    Christianity finally became religion. The two romans Constantine of the West and Lucinius of the East agreed to letting the Christianity be their religion for their territory. The Edict of Milan made Christianity a dominant religion even when Christians were struggling with the obstacles that Edict of Milan gave to them. This helped bring the Christianity and the state of union closer together.

    The Destruction of Jerusalem

    The Destruction of Jerusalem
    Before the destruction of Jerusalem, Jesus predicted that Jerusalem would be destroyed and surround. A couple of years later his prediction became true.     East/West Schism

    East/West Schism
    The West and the East had several and political factors to talk about for example the Western Church asserted that the pope's authority extended over the entire church, including the East. The Eastern Church, however, rejected papal authority. Second, the Western church argued that the Holy Spirit proceeded from both the Father and the Son. But the East didn't want to do this. They had one big debate about this, unfortunately they couldn't overcome this making them go their seperate ways.

    Johann Gutenberg's has invented the printing press, using this he made the first bible. If it wasn't for him the Protestant reformation would never have taken place. As an result of the Protestant it would go to common people like the priest hood and also to people believe God.

    Luther Posts His "95 Theses"
    Pope Leo X wanted to build the new building St Basilica but he had no money so came up with an idea to do doing corrupt things. For example Catholic paid for their penance. As day went on a Catholic priest Martin Luther found out what they were doing wrong and immediately attack the Catholic organization for their wrong doing. For example he placed 95 theses on the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church. Luther was influencing a lot of Catholic for what the Catholic organization were doing wrong.

    Council of Trent Begins

    In 1545 Pope Paul III made a meeting called the Council of Trent this was going to help regain the the former Catholics. This meeting went on for another 18 years , finally coming up with ideas to bring back the former catholics. This event had significant impact on the Church including ending corrupt practices, for example priest getting indulgences, it encouraged large numbers of people to return to church, it made Church teaching more clear.
  • Vatican II Council Begins

    Vatican II Council Begins
    2400 Bishops around the world came together discussing what would happen to the Catholic organization in the new world era. For example shift in emphasis from the church as a monarchical structure organized under the primacy of the pope to the collegial union of bishops. Even though they are going through a new world era the are still confident that nothing is going to happen to the Cathlioc orgainzation.
