    The Russian revolution begun in March 8th 1917, as a result the revolution ended with the Soviet Union. The new society is based of Marx's belief which is communism.

    The U.S., United Kingdom, and Soviet Union meet to discuss the re-establishment of the nations that were decimated by WWII in Europe.

    States that the U.S. will assist Countries resisting Communism.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    A plan to help Europe recover from the war by sending large amounts of money to 16 nations in Europe for the rebuilding of cities, railroads, factories, and electric systems.
  • Berlin Blockade/Berlin airlift

    Berlin Blockade/Berlin airlift
    Soviets demanded for the Allies to leave West Germany so they could extend the communism control to West Germany, but the Allies refused so Stalin closed all roads and railroads and also cut electric power to West Berlin. American and British planes began to airlift food, clothing, medicine, and fuel into West Berlin. Since the Soviets wanted to avoid war they eventually stopped the blockade.

    The Wall made the U.S. and its allies believe that they should form a permanent alliance for their protection. In April 1949, Canada, the U.S. and 10 Western European countries for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

    First proxy war. Korea was split in North and South Korea where North was communist and South was Capitalist. Soviet and China backed up North and South was backed up by the UN and the U.S. The war ended with a peace agreement.

    In 1959 Fidel Castro took control of Cuba and declared it a communist area and took control of American-owned business's and farms that still remained in Cuba.
  • WARSAW Pact

    WARSAW Pact
    The Eastern Alliance (Warsaw Pact) consisted of The Soviet Union, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Rumania, and East Germany. Like the NATO it was for mutual protection.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    Vietnam earned independence in 1954 and anti-communists took control of Southern Vietnam and communists supporters took control of North Vietnam. LBJ sends troops to South Vietnam to fight against North Vietnam. In the end Nixon ends the war by bringing out all but 150,000 soldiers home by 1972. Nixon also secretly expanded the war by dropping massive tons of bombs. A peace agreement was finally worked out in 1973 with a communist win.

    The Soviet Union and East Germany wanted to stop the amount of East Germans fleeing to West Berlin by building a wall between two parts of the city.

    Cuban's ally, The Soviet Union, sent missiles and weapons to Cuba. The missiles were inside bases and could've landed in any American city in a matter of minutes. JFK demanded that the Soviet Union remove their missile bases in Cuba and he would consider that any attack from Cuba on the U.S. would be an attack from the Soviets.     Reagan had no hesitations about fighting communism. Reagan called the Soviets and evil empire and increased military spending. Later his attitudes towards the Soviet Union softened because of the new leader in the Soviet Union. Took office in 1985.     Gorbachev's policies inspired reformers throughout Eastern Europe. Poland elected a non-communist government. Bulldozers tore down the Berlin Wall. Country after another overthrew its communist government. Uprisings against communism eventually spread to the Soviet Union.
