    Plessy v. Ferguson
The Plessy v Ferguson was a Supreme Court case on May 18th, 1896. It sparked the beginning of the civil rights era 58 years before the era actually began. The Supreme Court ruled that it was constitutional to separate the white and the African Americans as long as they were being treated equally. Although, even after the case, the African Americans still received poor education and were treated as lesser than the whites.
