  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed because of the smuggling of sugar into the colonies, from the French West Indies.It was passed to help reduce the debt from the French and Indian war. It says that all gallons of molasses and syrup have to be taxed for. Also no manufacturing of rum or spirits are allowed.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed because the King sent British Soldiers to the colonies. They were charged with protecting against threats from the Frenchman and Native Americans. The act said that if the colonist didn't obey accompanying to the soldiers they would be thrown to jail.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed because of the fact that the Prime Minister took a different approach on the complaining. He made all pay taxes for stamps. The act said that taxes shall be paid throughout the colonies on stamps that will be put on multiple documents. The money from the taxes are put aside and reserved for The King's debt.

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act was passed because Charles Townshend said the taxes were illegal so to address colonist frustration, the parliament passed the Townshend Act. Also the issues of smuggling became a problem for Britain. It said that the it was going to stop any fraud and regulating abuses. Also anyone with government power can walk on your property. They can also look and search you at any time.

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was passed to ease tensions in the colonies. It says that they are now selling tea in America from East India which will be exported from England. You need a license for it to be imported. To get a license you have to be approved by the king.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act
    This act was passed because Britain was beginning to lose control of the 13 colonies. It was a punishment by The King for Massachusetts. The act said that Boston can not import or export anything in any wharf, until The King is satisfied that a lesson has been learned.

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: MA Government Act and the Administration of Justice Act
    These acts were passed to punish Massachusetts after the Boston Tea Party, so they will have more control over the colonies. It says that if anyone is being sued for capitol offense they have to be trialed in a different colony.

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
    This act was passed to guarantee the right for British citizens living in Quebec to keep their rights of Catholic faith. It attached to Quebec increasing the territory. It says that all territories, islands, and countries on February 10, will be annexed to Quebec to increase their territory.
