    HMS Beagle Passes below the equator in February 1832. Captain FitzRoy writes about the conditions on the ship that some would consider absurd and dangerous.

    HMS Beagle stops at Brazil. Darwin is fascinated as he explores the wildlife in the forests.

  • Argentine Fossils

    HMS Beagle arrives at Punta Alta, Argentina. Darwin is amazed at the sight of the large fossils there.

  • Natives Return

    HMS Beagle stops at Tierra del Fuego to return three natives to Argentina. FitzRoy miserably fails to start a Christian mission on the island.

  • Rocks n' Fossils

    HMS beagle stops at the Falklands. Darwin finds an abundance of small fossils in between the rocks on the beaches.

  • Cowboys of South America

    HMS Beagle stops at Rio Negro. Darwin meets with Argentine gauchos, who a similar to American cowboys.

  • Erruption

    HMS Beagle stops at Chiloe. Mount Osorno erupts while there were there and Darwin experiences an earthquake.

  • Natural Selection

    HMS Beagle stops at the Galapagos Islands. Darwin notes distinct differences in certain species of animals on the different islands. His records eventually led to him creating the theroy of Natural Selection.

  • Sydney

    HMS Beagle arrives in Sydney, Australia. Darwin notes the different mammal speices on Australia.

  • Reef Experiment

    HMS Beagle arrives at the Cocos Islands. Darwin studies the Coral Reefs surrounding the islands to test his theory of atoll formation.

  • Mauritius

    HMS Beagle arrives in Mauritius. Darwin notes the mixture of lava rocks and plant life on the Northern plains of the island.

  • Cape Town

    HMS Beagle arrives in Cape Town, South Africa. Darwin notes the amount of bullock wagons in the town as well the large sand dunes that are not to far from Cape Town.

  • Return to South America

    HMS Beagle returns to Brazil before heading home. Darwin is surprised to find new species he had not seen the first time around.

  • Home Sweet Home

    HMS Beagle returns to England. Darwin is happy to leave his seasick days behind him.
