The Aztecs were an independent group. They originated around the 13th century and had strong religious beliefs about where an eagle lied on a cactus they would settle there. There tribe started in northern mexico and they were aggressive.

Aztecs Settlement

Period: Apr 12, 1325 to Apr 13, 1521

The aztecs saw a eagle on a cactus and decide that it was a sign and that's where they thought their settlement would be. They took away the swampy area which now they could plant gardens and build the foundations of their capital and city. This all happened the year 1325 to the
year 1521. They grew lots of crops like maize (corn), beans, squash, Potatoes, Tomatoes, and avocados

Years Of Aztecs

Period: Apr 12, 1350 to Apr 13, 1521

The aztecs arrived Mesoamerica most likely at the beginning or the 13th century. The aztecs grew as one of the most dominant tribes in central Mexico they made a intricate social, political, religious and commercial organization This brought many cities under their control. Around the 1350s the Nahuatl was the biggest language in central Mexico. The aztecs where there 1350-1521

Around the early 16th century Aztecs were in charge of 500 small states and nearly five to six million people due to conquest or commerce. Tenochtitlán at its biggest had more than 140,000 Inhabitants and was the most populated ever in Mesoamerica. Some of the market there get visited by more than 50,000 people on a good market day.

Forming a Three Way

In 1428 the Aztecs and their leader Itzcoatl formed a three way with Texcocans and Tacubans. They were setting out to beat their powerful rivals Tepanec. And earn the reward of getting control of the capital of Azcapotzalco.

Taking Lead

Apr 12, 1440

Itzcoatl’s successor Montezuma took the lead in 1440. He was an amazing warrior and was known by the aztecs as their father. They were really happy to have someone as helpful and richest as him. He was a really good fighter and he used to fight for the aztec tribe before.

Francisco Hernandez

Period: Apr 12, 1517 to Apr 13, 1519

Francisco Hernandez decordoba was the first European to go visit mexican territory. He also arrived in cuba with lots of ships and around 100 men in 1517. In march 1519, cortes went to a town named Tabasco where he learned about the aztecs and lots of great things about their tribe.

Chaos

Apr 12, 1520

During 1520 there was lots of chaos from an approach of and arriving spanish expedition they came from cuba ready to take away cortes's goods. Cortes was able to defeat them but it cost him. While he was gone the 80 spaniards left because they were losing control of the city all because of their barbarous treatment of the inhabitants.

The end of Aztecs

Apr 12, 1521

Invaders led by the spanish overthrew the aztecs with force. And they later captured Tenochtitlan in the year 1521. This was bringing a end to the Mesoamericas last great native civilization.

The Spaniards

Aug 13, 1521

The spaniards then murdered thousands of the aztecs nobles during a ritual ceremony. And montezuma died under uncertain reasons while in custody. His young nephew took ownership as emperor and the aztecs drove the spaniards from the city. They finally defeated the Cuauhtemoc’s resistance on August 13, 1521.
