The Atomic Theory

  • 400 BCE

    Democritus

    Democritus
Democritus suggested that all matter was formed of different types of tiny particles. He developed the concept of atoms and he believed that the world was made up of them.Democritus also believed that they were indestructible.Democritus's model stated that matter consists of invisible particles.
Democritus found out that the universe and all matter obey the following principle which is that everything is composed of atoms, which are physically, but not completely indivisible.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
John Dalton experiment helped as to find out that atoms are not indivisible.John Dalton's solid, mass particle shows how we can see it.His atomic theory was the first complete attempt to describe all matter in terms of atoms.Parts of the theory had to be modified based on the discovery of particles. Thanks to scientists such as John Dalton, modern chemists think of the world in atoms. He thought that the law of conservation of mass and definite proportions could be explained using atoms.

    John Dalton
Dalton's atomic theory was the first complete attempt to describe all matter in terms of atoms and their properties.Dalton based his theory on the law of conservation of mass and the law of constant composition.Dalton thought that the law of conservation of mass and the law of definite proportions could be explained using the idea of atoms. He proposed that all matter is made of tiny indivisible particles called atoms, which he imagined as solid, hard, impenetrable particles.
  • Sir J.J. Thomson

    Sir J.J. Thomson
Sir Joseph John Thomson was English physicist who helped get the knowledge of atomic structure by his discovery of the electron. He thought that everything contains particles of the same kind that. They are now called electrons, although he originally called them corpuscles.Sir J.J Thomson's conclusion is that the corpuscles were in all kinds of matter that would strengthened during the next three years. He also found that corpuscles with the same properties could be produced in other ways.

Sir Joseph John Thomson, English physicist who helped discover the knowledge of atomic structure by his discovery of the electron He showed that whatever its source, things contain particles of the same kind that are much less massive than the atoms of which they form a part. They are now called electrons, although he originally called them corpuscles.Sir J.J Thomson's found out that corpuscles with the same properties could be produced in other ways
