    In 1619 a boat with approximately 20 slaves arrived at Jamestown, this was the first time slaves had been in the New World, however it wasnt meant to arrive at Jamestown. This led to the civil war because it started slavery In the New World.
  • Cotton Gin

    Cotton Gin
    It was an invention by Eli Whitney that increased the demand for slaves in the south. The Cotton Gin increase the production of cotton by speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. It helped led to the civil war because more plantations opened up in the South which increased the number of slaves .

    Allowed Popular Sovereignty in Kansas, Is when White male settlers to vote if they wanted a free country or slave. The Congress didnt want to upset the balanced of the Senate by adding more free or slave states. This helped lead to the civil war because proslavery and anti slavery people wanted land and the right to vote if they wanted a slave country or not so they went to kansas, leading to the Bleeding Kansas.

    The Pottawatomie Massacre was led by John Brown, an abolitionist who believed in using violence to end of slavery. He and a group of followers murdered five pro-slavery men along the Pottawatomie Creek, four of of the follower's were his sons. This massacre was one of the main events that gave this time period the name “Bleeding Kansas.” It helped the cause of the civil war by angering anti-slavery and pro-slavery groups and it lead to more violence in the future.

Abraham Lincoln and the North were angered by the South’s secession and planned to make them join the union again. This is important to the cause of the civil war because it triggered the American Civil War.

This Election helped caused the Civil War because it made South Carolina to seceed from the Union in December and six more to follow until February of 1861.
