  • First TV's Available

    People could now have a tv in their lounge. The video was in black and white, but it was a great luxury at the time.
  • First Films

    People could now see movies and films. At the time they had no audio but as they progressed audio was incorporated.
  • Colour TVs Available

    People could now purchase colour tvs at the expense of them being really expensive. They later became more affordable, and allowed people to enter the world from their homes.
  • Steve Jobs Born

    Steve Jobs was born, destined to create an amazing technology company.
  • Bill Gates Born

    Bill Gates was born, unaware that he was going to revolutionise the technology world!
  • Floppy Disks Released to the World

    Floppy disks revolutionised data storage, becoming the usb's of the 20th century. People could move and transfer data easily now, allowing for a huge advance in technology
  • Atari 2600 Released

    Atari 2600 Released
    This was the year when the Atari 2600 was released
  • Game and Watch Released

    Nintendo entered the handheld console market with the Game and Watch, a series of mini-games featuring Nintendo mascots, such as the classic arcade game, Donkey Kong.
  • MS-DOS Released

    Microsoft released an OS called MS-DOS, creating a whole new world of computing!
  • Apple 1 Released

    This was the first household computer, but it was not very aesthetically pleasing. The world was still waiting for something more.
  • Windows 1 Released

    Windows 1 released to the public. This is the beginning of a new dawn of tech.
  • NES/Famicom Released

    During the 'Videogame Crash' of 1983, Nintendo released the Famicom in Japan, or better known as the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES. The NES is home to many classic games, such as the Super Mario Bros games, many arcade ports such as Donkey Kong
  • Game Boy

    Nintendo were booming in the home console market with the NES, but people wanted to be able to play the games, on the go. So Nintendo released the Game Boy in 1989 for people who wanted 'portable power'. The Game Boy has a compact design, with easy controls that make portable gaming easy. However, the screen was the main flaw, as it lacked a backlight & only could display grey and green.
  • Sega Genesis Released

    While Nintendo were the kings of the gaming market, SEGA released the world's first 16-bit console, which could display more colours, and process much more than the NES could at the time. The SEGA Genesis is home to SEGA's well-known mascot Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as many others, and they even had a marketing slogan of "Genesis does what Nintendon't", implying that the Genesis was the better console of the two.
  • SNES/Super Famicom

    While Nintendo were destroying the gaming market with the Nintendo Entertainment System, they decided to release a new console that would pack more of a punch. Nintendo released the Super Famicom in Japan, or as known in other countries, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES. The SNES is home to many of the classic mascots that were born on the NES, but now they have games that have more awesome features that many people remember & enjoy to this day.
  • Sega Saturn Released

    After the not so long lifespan of the SEGA Genesis, SEGA created a console that could 'display full 3D'. The SEGA Saturn was released when 3D gaming was fairly new, and so the 3D used wasn't well-implemented, causing the Saturn to fail drastically.
  • Nintendo 64 Released

    While the SNES was still booming, Nintendo took a risk and tried to implement their own 3D graphics, however it was a success. (unlike the SEGA Saturn) The Nintendo 64 revolutionized gaming with 3D graphics, a controller that had a joystick that allowed free movement, unlike the 4 directions that a D-Pad could produce, and many games that took advantage of its power of 3D graphics.
  • C++ Created

    The Programming language known as c++ was created. This is one of the biggest languages, used in almost every application, including all Microsoft office apps.
