USSR (The Soviet Union) got the first sound recording in outer space, while collecting soil samples from Venus.

The first successful artificial heart implantation into a human.
The first implantation of an artificial heart was on April 4th, 1969, where the artificial heart was used to extend the patient's life until a human heart became available. The heart was removed after 64 hours, but the patient died from complications. The first permanent implantation occurred on December 2, 1982, and the patient survived 112 days with the artificial heart. The second recipient of the permanent artificial heart survived for 620 days after implantation.

The World (Commercial Internet Service) launched
The World was the first commercial internet service provider in the world. Most universities and government installations attempted to ban it from use, however, it was eventually granted permission to provide public internet access on an "experimental basis".

The Hubble Space Telescope is a large, and versatile telescope that is used for research and public relations of astronomy. Its estimated decay date is in 2030 or even 2040, with a mission length time of 40 to 50 years.

Netflix was founded
Netflix was founded by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings. Netflix currently has 93 million members, is available in over 190 countries, and has over 125 million hours of content.

Google is officially registered as a domain
The word Google is a play on words, supposed to represent googel, a number represented with a one, followed by one hundred zeros. This was to represent the mission of Google, to organize seemingly infinite amounts of data from the web.

Facebook was founded
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerburg and his college roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. When it was first released, it was only for Stanford students, but it expanded to other ivy league schools, and then high school and college students, before going public for anyone over the age of 13 in 2006.

The release of Microsoft's Bing search engine
Microsoft introduced Bing in 2009, where it was immediately criticized by competitor Google, for using internet explorer's data to add results to the web site. In later years, there were also accusations of Bing coping Google's results, which was found to be true in later years. There were also many problems with illegal access to "adult" information in many countries.
