  • Floppy Disk

    The inventor of the floppy disk was Yoshiro Nakamatsu. The first disk was 8 inches wide. Like its name suggests it was floppy.
  • Pong

    Pong was invented by Nolan Bushnell. He also founded a Japanese video games company called Atari. Like its name suggests pong is like ping pong. Today you can play Pong online and play the new veersion on Wii
  • VCR

    The first VCR was invented by Sony. However unlike the VCRs we know today it did not use video it was just a recorder. It could record and play back sound.
  • LCD Watch

    George Heilmeier was the inventor of the first LCD watch. He started the International Liquid Crystal Company. The watch was the first to be digital instead of being run by gears.
  • E-mail

    Ray Tomlinson was the inventor of the famous e-mail. He worked for Bolt Beranek and Newman a technology company. He figured out how to send files from one computer to another calling it email.
  • Genetic Engineering

    Genetic engineering began in 1972 when Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen inserted another strand of DNA in a bacteria. The first "test tube" baby was born in 1978. Her name is Louise Brown of England.
  • Cell Phone

    Martin Cooper is the inventor of probably the most used invention to this day. The first phone took 10 hours to charge for half an hour of use. Martin's first call was to his rival to brag about his invention.
  • Liposuction

    Giorgio Fischer was a gynecologist from Rome, Italy. He is the inventor of the "famous" liposuction. It is a procedure where they basically suck your fat out with a vaccum.
  • Laser Printer

    Gary Starkweather is the inventor of the printer. The printer cost $17,000. The printer however was huge!
  • Digital Camera

    The first digital camera was about the size of a toaster. It was invented by Kodak worker Steve Sasson. Images had about .01 megapixels.
  • Pocket Calculator

    The first pocket calculator was from Japan. Soon following were pocket calculators from Texas Instruments and Canon. It was $79.95 when it first came out.
  • Vaccine for Pnemonia

    Robert Austrian was the inventor of the vaccine. The vaccine can prevent pneumonia, meningitis, and other infections. Due to the vaccine millions of lives were saved in the 70's.
  • MRI Scanner

    Raymond Damadian was the inventor of the MRI. He performed the first full body scan that year. The MRI is still being used today in treating cancer patients.
  • Artificial Heart

    Robert Jarvik is the inventor of the artificial heart. Denton Cooley was the first surgeon to transplant the heart. Barney Clark was the patient who recieved the artificial heart.
  • Portable Walkman

    It was the first ever portable cassette player. It was called the Stereobelt. The inventor is Andreas Paval of Germany.
