The Life of Maoli

  • The Very Beginning

    The Very Beginning
On this day a little girl was born, her name is Maoli. Her father was named Ke ahi and her mother was named Kanaka. Maoli's parents neglected her by forgetting to feed her, barely changing her, and never showed her affection. STAGE: Trust vs. Mistrust
The lack of attention makes Maoli feel mistrust. If she can't rely on her parents then who can she rely on?
  • The Early Years

    The Early Years
Maoli is ready to start potty training, but her parents haven't given any hint of starting to help her out in fact they are never around when she feels proud or sad. She pees the bed one night and is scolded the next morning from her mother, this makes Maoli feel shame.
  • Early School Years

    Early School Years
Maoli is starting preschool but is very nervous because she has never had any friends nor does she have siblings. At the same time she is excited to play with all the other children. When Maoli gets to school the first day she feels too scared to play with the other kids in her class and hides during recess. This continues for the rest of the year.

STAGE: Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt
Success in potty training would lead to autonomy, but instead she feels shame and doubt.

Adolescence Years (Identity Vs. Role confusion)
Maoli is now 18 years old. She has gone through school with little to no friends and still has yet to have a single sleep over due to her parents not allowing it. Maoli also didn't participate in any extra curricular activities. She doesn't fully understand who she is or what she likes to do. When people do talk to her she is very closed off and doesn't know how to keep a conversation going. Maoli doesn't quite know who she is due to the lack of interaction from her parents and other people
