    Melinda stands up for herself.
    Melinda has been quite her whole school year about what really happened at the party and the real reason she snitched but she finally decides to tell her ex best friend Rachell about Andy and how he inapropriatly abused her. Melinda is slowly getting her best friend back. She is also starting to feel less depressed at this point of the book. The even is important because I feel this is the climax and it is the part where the story is coming to a end.

    Melinda confronts Andy in front of many students, Andy lies and denies everything Melinda has said. When Andy finds Melinda alone, he tries to hurt her again and she tells him she wont scream but she does and this time she fights back. She screams and then he hits her but that does not stop her. She finds anything to throw at him. She finally finds a block of wood and she throws it at a glass window and she tells Andy "I said no". At this point Rachell rescues Melinda.This shows her strength.

    Now that Melinda told her peers what really happened she isstarting to be happy again. She is learning how to deal with her problems and she is not as depressed as she was. Melinda also decides to talk to Andy and tell him how he abused her mentally and physically. They end up getting in a physical fight. The point in the story is important because it shows the strethgs of the character Melinda and how she is progressing through out the story.

    The book speak is about a young girl named Melinda Sordino. She is just starting highschool and she lives with her mom and dad in NewYork . She does not have friends because she told on her whole school. The others characters in the book are heather, Melindas ex best friend, Andy Evans, the guys who hurts Melinda, Ivy, Melindas ex friend, and Rachiel, Andys girl friend .In the begining, Melinda does not speak up about what happened at the party.I picked this book because It seemed inspiring,
  • Party Gone Wrong.

    Party Gone Wrong.
    Over the summer, Melinda goes to a party where illigal activities take place. At the party there is drugs and underage drinking. At the party Melinda gets hurt by Andy. She tells the police about the drinking and about the kid named Andy who raped her. Unfortunutly for Melinda, all the people at the party were her friends and class mates. Melinda now has no friends and every one at her school hates her for snithing. This event is important because it shows why Melindas whole school hates her.
  • New school year.

    It is the beggining of the school year and Melinda is just starting high school and she is struggeling making friends, fitting in, and just having a hard time with life. The reason for Melinda not having many friends is because she snitched on them .
  • The tree.

    Melinda decides to join art class. At first, Melinda thought it was to easy. Mr.Freeman, the art teacher asigns each student a theme to draw. The students pick out of a hat and Melinda picks a tree. At first she is mad and thinks drawing a tree is to easy and she is annoyed by Mr.Freeman. Later on in the story, Melinda starts to like Mr.Freeman and she symbolizes the tree. The tree to her represents how she is not perfect. This event is significant because the tree is the symbol of the story.

    Thanks giving time is crazy this year for the Sordinos.Melinda Mom manages a clothing store .Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. Melinda mom is stressed so she chain smokes and coffee binges too much and its worring Melinda. Mom plans on cooking Thanksgiving dinner, even though Dad and Melinda dont want to celabrate it.The turkey does not turn out so they barry the turkey next to there dog. This event is important because it show a side of each character.
  • Bad grades and cutting school.

    Melinda is getting bullied every day. This is making her depressed and her grades are showing. On her last report card her parents were really mad because she was getting all ds and fs and last year she was a straight b student. Melinda has also been ditching school because she hates going so much. Melinda cant handle people harassing every day any more and she wishes they new the truth. This event is important because it shows what depression can do to a teenager.

    Melinda decides it would be best if she would just stop talking. She thinks that nobody cares about her and she thinks she should be dead. At this point in the book, Melinda is really depressed and she is losing all her friends. Melind thinks it is best not to speak but she needs to relize that she needs to tell everyone the truth. This event is important because it is the reason the title is called Speak and it shows why Melinda is mute and sad.

    Overall, I thought this was a very intersting book. I would definitly recommend this to all readers and all my friends. The author made this book so inspiring that a person would not want to stop reading. Im not sure if they have a movie on the book Speak but if they did I would for sure watch it. They was not any time in the book when I wanted it to be different because I loved every single part so much!

    The first few months of school have been especially hard for Melinda. Everyone at school acusing her of snitching, her losing all of her friends, getting bullied, and her still thinking about that horrible thing Andy did to her, she is really depressed and does not want to talk anymore. On the first day of school, Melinda meets a cheerfull girl named Heather. They start to become fruends but Heather decides its time to let Melinda go because she is to depressed for her.This shows she has no one.
