    The Castilians defeated the Moors people and captured Madrid in 1083. The leader of Spain Philip II made Madrid the capital of Spain in 1561. This lead to having Madrid being one of the coolest cities in the world with their culture and traditions.

    The Peninsular War was a military conflict between Napoleon's empire and European powers of Spain, Britain and Portugal for control of the Iberian Peninsula. The war started whenthe French and Spanish armies invaded into Portugal in 1807, and then the situation escalated in 1808 when France turned againsted Spain. The war on the peninsula lasted until the Sixth Coalition was defeated Napoleon in 1814, and is regarded as one of the first national wars in Europe.

    The Sagrada Família is one of the most remarable churches in the world. Sagrada Família or the church of The Holy Family is sometimes referred to as Gaudi’s Cathedral. Antoni Gaudi, although it is not a cathedral the decision to construct a church in Barcelona dedicated to the Holy Family was taken in 1874 by Josep Bocebella. In 1881 the land was bought and the following year the foundation stone was laid by the Bishop of Barcelona.

The civil war was an outcome of a polarization of the Spanish life and government that had started over previous decades.
