    Local elections

    On the 12th April 1931, there were local elections. In general, supporters of the monarchy won the elections but Republicans won in most of the provincial capitals,

    The Provisional Government and the 1931 Constitution.

    The new government was composed of the political parties that signed the Pact of San Sebastián, presided over by Alcalá Zamora.
    The government initiated some reforms and called elections that Republicans won.
    The new Cortes made a democratic Constitution (1931) in which all political parties could be represented.

    Exile of Alfonso XIII

    Due to the results of local elections, Alfonso XIII was exiled. A provisional government proclaimed the second republic, the 14 of April of 1931.
