    History was changed forever on October 4th,1957. Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1 in the earths orbit. Sputnik weighed 83.6 kg. or 183.9 pounds it took 98 minuites to orbit the earth. Sputnik is a tiny satilite that took pictures of the earth and space. Then Russia made Sputnik 1 crash.

  • Space Race

    On October 4th, 1957 Space Race started.

  • Sputnik 2

    Sputnik 2
    USSR launches Sputnik 2 after Sputnik 1 crashed. Inside of Sputnik 2 carried a small dog named Laika into the earths orbit.

    In 1958 they launched Sputnik 3 into the earths orbit.
    Sputnik 3 work automatily it was a scientific spacecraft.
    It was shaped conically and then Sputnik 3 was 3.57 meters long.

  • First Man in Space, Yuri Gagarin

    First Man in Space, Yuri Gagarin
    April 12th, 1961 the first man went in space. Yuri Gagarin, it took him 108 minutes to orbital the earth.Since 1993, U.S and Russia has worked together to make space projects. Yuri Gagarin was the first man to make it around the earths orbit.

    President Kenndedy announced that they were going to send a man to space. The president was going to send a man to the moon and return him safley. Everyone was shocked and worried.

    On June 3rd Ed White performs America's first spacewalk he orbited around the earth 3 times it took around 23 mins.

  • Neil Armstrong

    Neil Armstrong
    In 1969 Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. He went to space to compete in Space Race and the U.S wanted to win. So they decided to have a man go to the moon and come back to his home. Millions of people all around the world were watching.
    One small step for man, one gaint leap for mankind.
