The Russian Civil War was between the Bolsheviks and anti- Bolsheviks. Each wanted different ways to be ruled by government. There were many casualties and a national catastrophe. It created independence for states and the Russian Empire consolidated to the Soviet Union. -
Soviet Union adopts a Constitution
Soviet Union adopted a constitution based on the dictatorship of the proletariat and stipulating the public ownership of land and the means of product. The working class got control over their politics. They could also finally choose who they wanted to control them. -
Adoption of the Five-Year Plan
The Soviet Union developed the five year plan. The states go to set goals and priorities for the whole economy. It also signified the end of the New Economic Policy. The plan brought together all of the farms and farmers. -
Collectivization of Agriculture
In 1928, Collectivization of Agriculture began. Stalin wanted all farm land brought together and to have peasants work them. Many people did not want this to happen so the killed their animals, burned their farms and killed themselves. This event led to a great famine in the Soviet Union. -
USA Recognizes Soviet Union
In 1933, the Americans finally recognized the Soviet Union. It happened through negotiations with the Soviet Cmmisar for foreign affairs. The U.S. eventually broke off diplomatic relations though. Then the U.S. witheld recognition but the Soviet Union was formally recognized in the League of Nations. -
Soviet Union admitted to the League of Nations
The Soviet Union was finally admitted into the League of Nations in 1934. The League of Nations was created to develop cooperation between nations and guarantee peace and security between them. It was also made to prevent wars and help keep peace with other nations. -
Soviet Union and Germany Creat a Pact
The Soviet Union in 1939 decided to create a pact. This pact was made so they wouldn't invade Poland or each other. This pact did not last long, as Hitler invaded. This pact was important because it would have let them work together. -
Germany Invades Poland
1939, Germany decided to break their pact and invade Poland. This would help them gain control over it. This made the U.S. go into war. Germany broke the pact by invading when they originally said they wouldn't. -
Soviet Occupation of W. Ukraine
In 1939, the Soviet Union had occupation of western Ukraine which triggers a war. The war began because of Ukranian resistance to the Soviets. The Russians won. They established the Soviet Regime and gained more land and people. -
Nikolai Ezhov is Executed
Nikolai Ezhov is executed because he confessed to mass arrests and executions. He basically became a political un-person after this affair. After this there were no more mass arrests or executions. -
Stalin Appoints Semyon K.T. as Marshall
Stalin appointed Semyon K. T. as Marshall of the Soviet UNion in 1940. He was a Soviet Union military commander before that. He did not win many battles and lost many men. He had many failed attempts against Germany. -
Stalin Roosevelt and Churchill Meet at Tehran Conference
IN 1943, Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt all met at the Tehran Conference. The conference was to discuss strategy between the Ally leaders. The Western Allies formed a commitment to open a second front against Germany. -
The Comintern Dissolves
The Comintern dissoved in 1943. By dissolving, it showed how divided the governments were. Lenin had written a book about it and said that it would help defeat Russia. This book help set them up for a war against Russia. -
Soviet Union Invaded Slovakia
Soviet Union invaded Slovakia in 1944. The reason for this was stop Alexander Dubcek's political calliberalization reforms. Around 500.000 troops invaded. Alexander resigned from his position. -
Soviet Union Invaded Poland
In 1945, the Soviet UNion decided to invade Poland. They tried to take Poland away from Germay who had won it earlier. That didn't work, so they wound up splitting Poland between them. Many people died but the Sovet Union got a part of Poland in the end.
