    UGA Establishment
    Abraham Baldwin chartered the idea for the first university in America. The university brought Georgia fame and money. It also increased Georgia's standard of living and job opportunities.(New Georgia Encyclopedia)
  • Cotton Gin

    The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney so that people didn't have to pick the seeds out by hand. The cotton gin increased the demand for cotton and for slaves which made the economy stronger.( New Georgia Encyclopedia)
  • Yazoo Land Fruad

    Legislators took bribes and sold land to companies;when they found out Georgia agreed to remove Natives.The Yazoo Land Sale led to the decrease in the Native population which created more opportunities, such as jobs, for citizens.(New Georgia Encyclopedia)

    Land Lotteries

    Georgia would randomly pick a person and a piece of land and whether they wanted it or not, it was now their land. About 3/4 of the state was sold to people at cheap prices. THis increased the demand for land and increase population. ( New Georgia Encyclopedia)

  • Dahlonega Gold Rush

    People settled in Dahlonega to find gold that belonged to natives. In order to get the gold they forced the Natives out. Forty-three ounces of gold was carried back to Atlanta which made trade and purchasing rates increase.(Georgia Info)

    Railroads were made to transport cotton and goods from Chattanooga to Atlanta.Places like Atlanta,Baxley,Manchester,and many more were created which increased the job opportunity. (New Georgia Encyclopedia)
  • Worcester v. Georgia

    The court case that stated that Natives' didn't have to follow the state laws, but they still had to follow the U.S. laws.(New Georgia Encyclopedia)
  • Trail of Tears

    The trail tears was when all the Natives were pushed off their land. The citizens then used the land for farming to make more money.(New Georgia Encyclopedia)
