The goal of the movement is to stop systematic racism towards black people. -

In April 2014, 276 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram in the northern Nigerian village of Chibok. The hashtag brought global attention to the tragedy. -

The He For She Movement was organized by the UN and is a campaign for the advancement of gender equality. UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson hosted the event to kick of the movement by sharing a speech calling men and boys to be involved in gender equality. -

In response to the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the homicides of NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in Brooklyn, New York on December 20, 2014. The Blue Lives Matter Movement advocates that those who are prosecuted and convicted of killing law enforcement officers should be sentenced under hate crime statutes. -

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality giving gay and lesbian couples the right to marry. -

Actress Alyssa Milano revived a 10-year-old campaign encouraging victims of sexual harassment and assault to share their stories on twitter and other social media platforms to bring attention the magnitude of the amount of people that are sexually assaulted.
