  • Slavery Arrival

    The slaves came to America in 1619. They were brought to Jamestown and a lot of people started owning them. They had to work for hours.
  • Abolishing slavery trade

    United States starts to end slave trade in 1807. Congress made this and wanted to end it in any country.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri was a slave state and Maine became a free state. They had to preserve the balance of free and slave states.
  • Wilmot proviso

    David Wilmot wanted to ban slavery. It was an important document because it could ban slavery where the war was happening.
  • Compromise 1850

    This compromise made California a free state. This compromise had a dispute over slavery territory than gained from the Mexican war.
  • Fugitive Slave

    People from the South could go to the North and get any free slave. The Northerners hated this because it wasn't fair for the slaves.
  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    Harriet beecher stowe published this book in 1852. It talked about the negatives of slavery.
  • Kansas and Nebraska Act

    Kansas and Nebraska could choose to have slavery. This act led to bleeding Kansas which killed many people.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas was a fight over Kansas and many people died. It led to fightings and the army had to come and break it up.
  • Dred Scott Supreme Court

    Dred Scott was a free slave but failed and had to take it far by going to Supreme Court. African people were not allowed to become citizens for a very long time.
  • John Brown Raid

    John Brown and his sons gathered up and gave slaves gun to raid. John Brown tried to put an end to slavery.
