Innovation of Technology and Science in the 20th Century

  • The Airplane

    The Airplane
It's hard to imagine where we would be today without the Airplane, it is one of the most useful transportation methods to date, allowing you to travel anywhere you wish globally within hours, first developed and tested in 1903 by the Wright brothers, without transportation by Airplanes we wouldn't have usage for services such as storage delivery globally, warfare utilities, development of cities or other adaptations of the airplane, such as drones and other hand held flight devices.
  • Automobile (1908-1927)

    Automobile (1908-1927)
The Car/Automobile, aided by combustion engine in the 19th century wasn't the most effective model of the Automobile and the significance of it wasn't known too well. However in the 20th century this changed, when the ford released the model T in 1908 which lead to efficient use of transportation over long ranges with a better fuel supply and overall ease of use, this would lead to the future of even greater cars and other machines.
  • Artificial Intelligence

    Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence was a major concept that wasn't implemented as it was too complex for us to understand, until in 1915 when Leonardo Torres built an automatic chess program that thought and responded to whatever moves you made. Artificial intelligence is used world wide and is used in a variety of different software and technology, such as Siri, Clever bot and IRobot. If we never implemented Artificial Intelligence, robots probably wouldn't exist.
  • The Radio (1900s-1920s Era)

    The Radio (1900s-1920s Era)
From 1900-1920 and on wards the radio made it possible for someone to be heard from hundreds of miles away without the use of a wired connection, allowing people to be notified of events no matter where you were, especially useful if you had a car, you could listen to radio stations and even music. Without the use of radios communication and announcements would be a lot harder to spread without local contact, and entertainment would be less enjoyable.
  • Electric Refrigerators

    Electric Refrigerators
Before electric refrigeration often people would use what we consider today unorthodox methods of cooling food/other items which were very inefficient. By using fridges/refrigeration many different sorts of objects or food can be cooled all at once in a contained area, becoming a household essential. Fewer than 5% of modern homes don't have refrigeration services. Electric Refrigerators started early production from 1914-1927
  • Antibiotics

    Antibiotics
In 1928 Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin G which was the first Antibiotic to be discovered, If this never happened not only would life spans be reduced, but mortality rates would increase as even if a small bug bit you it could be potential harmful. Scourges such as small pox, typhoid and syphilis became something that could be treated easily thanks to Antibiotics.
  • Mobile Phones

    Mobile Phones
Mobile phones are something most people can't live without and it's something that they rely on day to day, back in 1937, Marty Cooper developed the first mobile phone and successfully made a wireless call. Since then phones have evolved from standard dialing services to small hand held devices that act as phones, email checkers, video and sound players and a small T.V like figure. Without phones direct and easy communication across the world would be impossible.
  • Radars

    Radars
Radar, also known as Radio Detection And Ranging was developed in the 1940s by the U.S Navy, it's used globally as of now and is insanely helpful. The Radar is a device that allows detection of air crafts, ships, space-crafts, missiles, vehicles, weather patterns and even different terrain. Radars were most notably used during World War 2, to secure safety of air transportation and to warn others, without it many causalities would be allowed, as would lethal unannounced weather conditions.
  • Television (More modern)

    Television (More modern)
The creation of television is of no doubt one of the most significant creations up to date, linking communities together, displaying information, entertainment and social media the Television connects the world together. The RCA 630-TS is one of the first mass produced television sets that sold in insanely large quantities, serving as a foundation for future ideas and architecture that would be build upon in the future.
  • Space Shuttles and Rockets

    Space Shuttles and Rockets
Whilst considered harmless in the past, during the 20th Century rockets became larger and more powerful, leading them to be more deadly for methods of war and with the added ability of control, a use of transportation. As a result, space shuttles were used to access and be sent into outer space, without the rocket we would not have accessed the moon, or really any other information about space, nor would we be able to use satellites/gps and future predictions about weather and such.
  • The Laser

    The Laser
Laser technology was invented by Theodore H. Maiman in 1960, used as utility in many services and fields, such as the medical field in which it can be used for surgery, other fields include the food industry, in which food is scanned by lasers to efficiently log and buy produce, in other fields such as combat lasers are used for guided missiles, bombs and other targeting devices. Without usage of lasers, manual labor would be harder, and potential lives would be saved.
  • The Internet

    The Internet
The internet is a vast system of networks, founded in the early 1960s, with a staggering amount of 3.2 billion users the internet is used globally. Delivering information in seconds, the internet serves as a utility that cannot be surpassed, whether you wish to retrieve or upload information, buy products or generally talk to those who are across the world you can do it all within seconds at ease, the internet is supplied nearly everywhere and has helped many people and answers many questions.
  • Apple 1

    Apple 1
The Apple Computer 1, hand built by Steve Wozniak and advertised by Steve Jobs was one of the first personal computers to ever be sold by Apple, this lead to the successor (The Apple Computer 2) and a solid foundation to be set on the future advancement of computers, with an inbuilt keyboard and graphics display the computer would come to be a prized possession due to the utility it provided, without the Apple 1, computing would be insanely different.
  • Wireless Technology (As a whole)

    Wireless Technology (As a whole)
Wireless technology in general is insanely useful, not having to use cables or wiring to transmit any sort of information is insanely useful, more modern developments of wireless technology ranging from the 1980s to 1990s made life easier as phones, computers and other technological devices could be used within a fairly good range. This makes transmission of information in large households/companies insanely useful as a large amount of people in a specific radius can use a wireless network.
  • Nuclear Power

    Nuclear Power
During the years of 1895-1956 pivotal events took place regarding Nuclear energy, more specific power sources, such as nuclear reactors, atomic radiation and atomic change to ultimately end fossil fuel as a primary power source. One of the most important points during this era ranged from 1939-1945 included the construction of the Atomic bomb, which had the potential to wipe out enemy territories within seconds.
