  • Innovator George Crum

    Innovator George Crum
In 1863 George Crum was cooking for diner guests and when they refused his french fries for being to "thick for his liking". This made Crum want to rile up the guests more and he decided to make thinner fries that were harder to skewer. This plan however backfired and his guests were ecstatic and Crum continued making them calling them Saratoga Chips and soon changing the name to Potato chips.
  • Innovator George Crum

Although George never attempted to get a patent for his potato chips he became very successful after opening his own restaurant serving a potato chip basket to every table. Soon after the snack was mass produced and provided jobs all around the nation.
