    In this Project you will see the main actions of the Russian Revolution. You will learn about them and why they were significant to the Revolution overall.
  • Decembrist Revolt

    Decembrist Revolt
    On December 26, 1825 a group of Russian Dekabrists had an unsucessful uprising. Since the death of Alexander I, made an uprising in withing the people. This convinved soldiers to not take loyalty to the new czar Nicholas I. Insted of Nicholas I they wanted Alexander's brother Constitine instead. The uprising was poorly planned so the revolters lost the uprising. This effected the revolution becasue it gave inspiration to the later uprisers to revolt over the government.

    Nicholas the Second Becomes Czar of Russia
    On May 26, 1886 Nicholas II became the last czar of Russia. Nicholas did not have the skills to become a czar nor did he want to become czar. He lacked the strength and intellegence to be czar. This effects the revelution because the people hated Nicholas II, it created anger from the people so they wanted to over throw the government.

    During the Russo-Japenese War Japan won a series of battles. Russia underestimated the military power of Japan. In January, 1905 the Japenese won a Russia port called Port Arthur. Russia had lost three major defeats. This affected the revolution because the losses of the three major battles against Japan caused the revolution to happed, Right after Russia lost the three battles the revolution broke out.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    On January 22, 1905 there was an uprising that later lead to massacre called, Bloody Sunday. A group of workers, led by priest Georgy Apollonovich Gapon. They marched to the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. They marched to the palace to make their demands. Imperial forces opened fired and killed hundreds of people. This effected the reveloution becasue it built huge tension for the people of Russia in the coming decade.

    On August 1, 1914 Germany declared war on Russia, Just four days after World War I began. Russia's main allies in the war were the United Kingdom and France. How it effected the reveloution is that since Russia was in war they were in poverty. Because of the poverty there were bread riots in Russia.
  • The March Revolution

    The March Revolution
    In March there was civil unrest in St. Petersburg. Industrial workers striked and refused to leave the streats. On March 10, 1917 all the industrial workers in St. Petersburg were on strike. They destroyed many police stations. On March 11, the police opened fired on the strikers but the strikers didn't do anything. On March 12, the revelotion was finished by regiment after regiment defected the cause of the uprisings. This effected the revolution because after the March Revolution the soldiers

  • Czar Nicholas II Adicates the Throne

    Czar Nicholas II Adicates the Throne
    In March 1917 the army of garrison joined with striked workers demanding socialist reforms which led to Nicholas II adicate the thrown. Nicholas and his family then lived in the Czarskoye palace. Then in 1918, after a secret meeting, Nicholas was sentenced to death. With his family and most of his servants Nicholas was gunned down. This effected the revolution because Russia was without a czar and Nicholas was the las czar of Russia.

    Russian Civil War Begins
    After the March Revolotion the Provisional and Petrograd Soviets shared equal power. Then on November 6 and 7 of 1917, Bolshevik party Vlademir Lenin Launched a near bloodless attack against the Provisional government.The Bolsheviks won and soon made a new government at Lenin as their head. This affected the revelution because Lenin was their leader and the people thought it was better becasue of a new government.
  • Creation of the USSR

    Creation of the USSR
    After the Bolesheviks won the civil war they made the country of Russia the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR). Vladimir Lenin was the first leader, then Stalin, then Georgy Malenkov, then Nikita Khrushchev, and last Leonid Brezhnev. This affected the revolution because after the revolution the Bolshiviks made it a republic. The USSR would stay a republic until in 1991 on December 25 the USSR broke free back to Russia.
  • Vladimir Lenin's Death

    Vladimir Lenin's Death
    On January 21, 1924 Vlademir Lenin died at age 54. He died from brain hemorrhage. His body was imbalmed and was placed in the mausoleum in Moscow. His body is stil preserved today and still is in a muesum. After his death Stalin took over his position. This affected the revolution because Lenin was the one to fight in the revolution in the Russion Civil War. Lenin also got replaced by Stalin who was a cruel leader to his people in the years he reigns.
