    The Decembrist Revolt
    This revolt was a protest against Nicholas the 1st's assumption of the throne. Russian Army officers led 3,000 soldiers in the protest. The rebels called themselves Decembrists because of the revolt happening in December. It took place in the Senate Square in St. Petersburg.

    Nicholas the 2nd Becomes Czar of Russia
    Nicholas the 2nd was the last Czar of Russia. He was crowned czar in the old Ouspensky Cathedral in Moscow. He wasn't trained to rule Russia which means he wasn't very inclined. The same month he was crowned he married Alexandra. They had five children.

    The war developed between Russia and Japan. They were always rivalries. The war was for dominence of Korea and Manchuria. At the end of the war Russia lost. Since they were defeated they were forced to stop their expansion policy.

    Bloody sunday was a protest that consisted of unarmed demonstrators. They were led by Father Georgy Gapon. Later in the day they were shot at by czar Nicholas's army. Some protesters were killed. It took place in St. Petersburg.

    Russia thought Germany would be a main threat to its territory. In 1914 the Russian army was the biggest. Since Russia had bad roads and railways they couldn't deploy their troops easily. They also had the biggest airforce. In the end Russia still lost the war.

    Czar Nicholas abdicated the throne because of the February Revolution. He was forced to by the Petrograd insurgents. After he was gone a Provisional Government was set up.

    It was a multi- party war. The main armies fighting were the red and White. The Red army supported the Bolshevik party and the White represented the Menshivik. Later the Red army defeated the White.

    USSR stands for United Soviet Socialist Republics. Was a Marxist Leninist state. It was created by the Russian Revolution. Vladimir Lenin was the first person to lead the Soviet Union.

    Lenin established the Bolshevik party. He was the architect of the Bolshevik Revolution. He was the first leader of the USSR. He was arrested and exhiled to siberia in 1897. He later died of a brain hemorrhage at the age of fifty four.

    It was centered around petrograd. It seemed to break out spontaniously. It included armed clashes with the police. It ended the russian empire. When it forced Czar Nicholas out of power a provisional government was set up.
