    Napoleon invasded to punish Czar Alexander I for leaving the Continental System. Napoleon planned to win the war quickly, and Czar knew that would happen. So he created a strategy of "running away" whenever the French were close. Eventually, the Frence army grew weak from a lack of supplies and only about 1/6 of them made it back to france alive.

    This was a war over Manchuria, Korea, and the seas around them. Russia wanted a warm-water port that would be functional year round for trade with the rest of the world. Unfortunately, Russia was defeated and Japan's Army was considered a threat on the world stage.
