    The Decembrist Revolt was a group of Nobles that led an uprising in protest of Nicholas I taking the throne. This event was important because it showed that the people of Russia's loyalty to the czar was dissolving quickly, and they wanted instead the accession of Alexander I's brother Constantine.

    Russia was drawn into the war due to a few factors, just like many other countries. There was imperial rivalry, too much trust in their alliances, and overconfidence in the military. However, Russia's economy was not fully developed, and they could not possibly have a chance against Germany, who at that time had an extremely stable economy. Because of this, Russia's people were led into poverty and starvation.

    The people of RUssia were beginning to bevery upset because after the first world war, Russia has lost millions of lives. It was very cold and there were extreme food shortages. Workers demanded higher wages in order to pay for food, but their wishes were not granted. Workers went on strike, and riots began, and the Duma was created.

    Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Throne
    Following the March Revolution, the Duma ignored Nicholas II's instructions, and formed their own government, and Nicholas II was persuaded that the royal family was in danger. His son Alexei, was heir to the throne, but Nicholas believed he was too weak due to his illness. The throne was then offered to Grand Duke Michael, who did not want it. After these attempts were made, Nicholas finally realized a czar was not wanted and he abdicated his throne.

    The RUssian Civil War was a war between the Bolsheviks (Red Army) and the Mensheviks (White Army). At the end of the war, the Bolsheviks won, and the USSR was established soon after. The Bolsheviks were in favor of communism, whereas the Mensheviks were opposed to it. The Bolsheviks won because they had better organization and territory.

    Soon after the Russian Civil War, the USSR was established. Leader Vladimir Lenin centralizes power in the USSR. Lenin and the USSR were able to organize the system of republics.

    Vladimir Lenin knew he was going to die soon, and this was a concern for him because he did not know who would lead when he was gone. He was most concerned with Joseph Stalin ruling after him. He was eventually killed after a series of large strokes.
