Ruler

  • Invention

    In the 16th century, English priest William Bedwell, who specialized on Arabic and mathematics, created the object known as a ruler. While there was no specific event known to have caused the creation of this object, it was created to be used as an easier way of measuring.
  • Use

    The ruler is an instrument used in geometry, technical drawing, printing, engineering and building to measure distances or to rule straight lines. It has distance markings along their edges.

  • Curved and fexifle rules

    Curved and fexifle rules
    Later, Frank Hunt made the flexible ruler in 1902. A flexible device which can be bent to the desired shape, and is known as a flexible curve.
