    King Edward III Crowned

    King Edward III Crowned
In 1327 King Edward III of England was crowned. He died in 1377, and this was the same year that Robin Hood was written. He reigned for a massive 50 years, making him the second longest reigning king of that time. I believe that this would have affected the writing of the book because the book was based in the early 1200’s, when King Henry and King Richard the lion heart were in command, the effect of king Edward III on the book was simply having a king to remind the author of the old rulers.

    King Peter of Castile Crowned

    King Peter of Castile Crowned
In 1350, King Peter of Castile or King Peter the cruel, was crowned king and reigned until 1369. He was born in Spain in 1334. He became king when he was in his late fifteens. While he was leader, he had many battles with Aragon. I think that this would have a big impact on the writing on the book because there were many people of royalty in robin hood and they were all trying to have battles with Robin.

    The Battle of Navarrete

    The Battle of Navarrete
In 1367, the battle of Navarrete was fought near Najera. It was fought between King Henry and King Peter, but King Peter managed to defeat King Henry in battle. I believe that this would have influenced the writing of this book due to the fact that it was a battle. Robin Hood had lots of fighting and royalty in it, and so did this battle, therefore I think that this battle may have influenced him to involve royalty and fighting into the book.

    King Peter of Castile Died

    King Peter of Castile Died
In 1369, King Peter of Castile, was killed by Henry II who then became the next king. Peter was only king for 19 years so he had a very short reign. This would have impacted the writing of Robin Hood a lot. I think this because in the book there were quite a few kings that were murdered and there were lots of battles between the royals and Robin Hood. Just like how King Peter was murdered in real life.

    King Edward III Died

    King Edward III Died
In 1377 King Edward III died. His cause of death was an unexpected stroke, although it could have been prevented. At the time, people who were royal tended to eat a lot more food that anyone else in their country, and it wasn't healthy food either. This probably had quite a big influence on the writing of this book, considering that Edward was the king of the author of Robin Hood. Also, in the book of Robin Hood, there were many royal people that were murdered because of how evil they were.
