    The Stamp Act was a tax on all papered good items. England took advantage of the colonies and made them pay for the debt coming from the 7 Years War. Violent protests came from the colonists and the Stamp Act was finally repealed in 1766.

    The Quartering Act said that all people have to provide room and care for soldiers in need without protest. They would house English soldiers in barracks provided for by the colonies. Protests were made so in 1767, Parliament passed the new York Restraining Act, not allowing New York's royal governor to agree with any other terms until the Quartering Act was complied.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a tragic event in which the Bristish started firing at colonists who were throwing snowballs at them, protesting the acts. Three colonists died, in those including Crispus Attucks, the first man to be shot. The Bristish troop's captain, Thomas Preston, and some of his men were charged for murder. This event helped encourage the colonists in the fight against the Bristish.

    These two battles were what started the Revolutionary War. In these battles was when the famous phrase, "The English are coming!", was shouted across the colonies by Paul Revere. Hence this battle, more battles came afterwards, continuing and ending the Revolutionary War.

    The Treaty of Paris of 1783 was a negotiation between the English colonies and Great Britain. This document ended the Revolutionary War and acknowledged the colonies' independence, not yet giving them official independence until the Declaration of Independence in July 4, 1776.
